Seems like a super slippery slope to me. We got into a pretty deep conversation post-election and finally stepped in and said that 'the table' had until the button crossed the dealer one more time to get through this and move onto another subject since it was slowing the game down.
Although rooms are public you certainly can have your own set of rules, but I've seen some UofM v MSU v OSU conversations that needed some 'banning' more than any political banter.
Personally I love it when the table goes 'off the reservation' since it gives me more opportunities to steal pots and physical tells when someone involved in the conversation suddenly shuts up to play a hand more closely. GL
