Baseball is a thinking game, as is poker, but tanking 45 seconds between every pitch is excessive and killing the sport I love.
Be glad you didn't have to watch Nomar or Jeff Hargrove, who's nickname was the human rain delay.
Having said that, decades earlier if David Ortiz took a stroll after a pitch a Mr Bob Gibson (and others) would be playing chin music to him on the next.
The fifty's and before the game was just not as commercial, so they'd run in and run out and be ready to play.
It's the evolution of the game, and the money involved. The best bet for my money now, and it's not nearly my favorite sport is playoff hockey. Those guys play all out for 2 months straight.
