Attention Grinders: How far is your daily commute to your Casino?

I live exactly 100 miles away (200 miles round trip) from the closest casino and it pretty much limits me from playing regularly.

I was wondering if anyone else is facing this same problem? And how are you overcoming it?

Before dog tracks had poker rooms in Florida, the closest room to me was Tampa Hard Rock which was a little over an hour away. To combat the long drives I would regularly play during the softest hours and sleep in my truck on the weekends if it wasn't too hot.

What hours do you consider as the softest?

Wow, that sucks man. If it's possible, try to relocate closer to a card room of your liking. If not then only go play during the prime time, or as 33 Big Blinds said, the softest times....and those times are Friday and Saturday evening and night when all the fish are out in full force drinking and having a good time. The weekends is where the rounders make all their money.

When my wife and I play and she want to go home I can play my button and then drive home and back and not miss a blind.

I am lucky and cursed in the same breath with how close I am to my room.

I'm 30 minutes away. If I would really be making an effort to grind the game live, I would definitely want to move closer. The combo of the 30 minute drive and my desire to play games other than NLHE/PLO really drops my motivation to go play.

I live in Brazil...casinos are ilegal here but poker rooms aren't. There is a bunch of them in my city (Sao Paulo), the nearest is about 10 min.

Re: Attention Grinders: How far is your daily commute to your Casino?

While in Vegas, it used to be 15 minutes by car at one point (longer if going to south strip and shorter if going to north strip) but would need to add 5-10 minutes to get from the car to the poker room. But if I took the bus (yes, there was a time when I was without a car), it was a 45 minute commute but it took 60-120 seconds to get to the poker table from the bus stop.

Also, when on the bus I would either read a book or watch a movie so I didn't mind the time. I used it to catch up on TV show I watch.

Coming from NYC when I used to commute 1hr each way to work, this was pretty nice It's all relative

i would hardly even consider myself a grinder anymore, but it's 1 hour and 45 to foxwoods and 2.5 to Borgata.

Picture me crying.

I'm right in the middle of 2 casinos. ****ty part is they are both 55min. away, in each direction. I never go during the week, isn't worth the commute.

Re: Attention Grinders: How far is your daily commute to your Casino?

I'm eight blocks away from my poker room, so I consider myself incredibly lucky. I really feel for all of you with 90+ minute drives... until Portland's poker revolution, I used to have to drive 90 min to play as well. Now I can play in four (or more) rooms within a twenty minute drive at the most.
