Any Charity Poker Rooms in Grand Rapids, Mi?

Are there any Poker Rooms in Grand Rapids?

If so, any reccommendations for cash games?

I'll be there Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night.

Thanks!

There are a few, the one I go to is at Lincoln golf club (the bar inside is called Sluggo's), on lake michigan drive just to the west of the city. There is also a very lively game at a bowling alley called Westgate, on Alpine avenue...the game is pretty crazy, but there have been a few cases of the tourney winners getting robbed after the game.

The one at Lincoln is very well run, friendly, and loose in a good way. They run daily tourneys and cash games.

Anybody been to the room in Westgate bowl lately? Im from the Cincinnati area and will be heading up that way this weekend for a bowling tournament at Westgate and noticed the charity room. What kind of cash games do they get going there and what are their hours?

I haven't done westgate in a while, but it was pretty lively last I heard a few months ago. A new room opened up just up the road from westgate, Tip-Off sports bar/grill/poker room, you'll see it going down Alpine, next to the Best Buy, about a mile before westgate.

Historically it is super duper loose, with massive profits to be made if you hit some hands.

I'm originally from Grand Rapids (now working in Seoul) so I'll be watching this closely... I'd love to find a solid game there.

Bumping this thread instead of just starting a new one - Where are the best places to play in Grand Rapids or in that vicinity? I'll be there for three weeks this summer!

How about just going to Mt. Pleasant where you can play with professional dealers, floor people and not have to worry about gettin jacked in some bowling alley parking lot.
Charity rooms are going to cause casinos in Mi to close poker rooms and roll in 200 more slot machines. then these charities will get shut down by the state or just lose their steam and close and then where will we be?

Is the game in Mount pleasant any good? Can you find decent games 24/7 or only occasionally?

I guess for me, I'm going to be in Grand Rapids for 3 weeks, I don't own a car, and unless I run terribad I want to be playing poker at least 4-5 nights a week.

Will Soaring Eagle comp my 100 mile cab rides to and from?

I see they spread Omaha so I'd personally like to check it out, and probably will, but I can't make 10 trips back and forth.

Plus, my sister, who is 19, will probably want to come with me occasionally, AFAIK you have to be 21 to get in to Soaring Eagle, is that correct?

You can find pretty decent action at soaring eagle M-Th, 11am till about 3am during the week for the 1-2 nl games. weekends 1-2 and 2-5 nl and 2-5 RxR going all nite. there also is a 4-8 omaha h/l.

You might be out of luck with gettin the cab ride compd but with a little bit of research you probably could find some rides fromGR there always seem to be people from the grand rapids area playing.

tribal casino so i believe you only have to be 18 to play.

Hmmm. The 18 age entry will probably score me an extra trip or two up there from my sister.

I'll definitely check out soaring eagle while I'm in MI. Still hoping to find something closer for regular play, though.

I love playing at Eastbrook Lanes off 28th St. in SE GR -- that's a 7-days-a-week game that hasn't been mentioned in this thread

That could be perfect.

Recently had someone suggest four winds casino resort as a place to go, but they don't know about the poker specifically. Anyone been there?

Starving,

Mt. Pleasant is way too far, and no way in hell are they comping a $200 cab ride. Just park close to the door and watch your back.

And I gotta think Eastbrook is more dangerous than Westgate, but who knows? The whole city features various pockets of ghetto. What area of town are you staying in?

So glad I moved out of GR. Real unlimited bet Hold Them finally coming Florida July 1st!

Fire Keepers would be a lot closer than Soaring Eagle.

Bumping this since I'm now in Grand Rapids for three weeks and looking for a place to play!

Heard the game at Eastbrook is nearly dead and they only have it on Wed. nights now, so that might be a gong show. :-/

Westgate is where it as at as far as I know.

Moved south almost two years ago, but those that I stay in contact with say that this is where the action currently resides.

Lamoreaux and Alpine in Comstock Park. It's on the far northwest side of GR.

Check it out. GL.

I'll have to check them out. Went to Woody's Press Box in Wyoming last night, and there were only two tables going, but the action was pretty amazing.

2 more weeks and I make my return to GVSU. I heard Lincoln Lanes wasn't running anymore. I hear that Westgate opens at 10am? Because I plan on going from playing 10-15 hours a week live to 30-40...gotta chip away at those student loans.

There are options.

Woody's is a good place if you are looking for cash games Monday thru Thursday. Best tournament room is Kings. Open Thursday thru Sunday at 4pm. Lincoln isn't an option.
