D:

Do you take the survey on the same days every year? I think that weekend would have been a big football weekend given the division playoffs the next day.

Also, have you ever done this survey during the week to determine how the locals are supporting Vegas poker?

Love these articles. Very interesting stuff.

The majority of the games spread are 1-2 or 1-3 NL. Are these populated by Vegas regs or tourists? And if it is tourists then what are major factors that have them play in one room or another? Most tourists are only in Vegas maybe once or twice a year so it certainly can't be the little things that are driving traffic from one place to another.

The winter suveys in the past three years have been done on 1/23/10, 1/22/11, and 1/21/12. Those were all on the Saturday before the NFL Conference Championship games.

It's a goal now to keep this type of consistency.

I haven't done any surveys like that. I'm trying to keep a survey schedule which is sustainable over many years.

I think the Wynn is totally awesome. With the great new management they can do no wrong.

I guess because of huge tourist volume it's more of an indicator of US poker health. The Bravo poker app is a great way to track actual room utilization. Do you know why the large Vegas rooms aren't on this app?

Also, do Vegas casinos have to report poker revenue like NJ and PA casinos?

Interesting links to UNLV Gaming research showing Nevada poker steady decline since 2006.

If anyone can actually paste tables here that might be easier to view.

You think you are not missing much by not having the off-Strip, but you are wrong. Based on the Bravo app -realizing it is missing all MGM properties and Wynn, Red Rock often has the 2nd largest number of games after the Venetian. Orleans would probably rate higher than many Strip rooms.

As for the Tropicana, Jamie Gold is not the key to what is happening there. I don't know the rules of this forum, so I won't use his name - but there is a person who arranges a roving game around town that they market as a 2-5 but really plays like a 10-25 - he brings this game to the Trop now often - he is the one who gets players for the room.

Venetian: 1-2 PL Big-O 8/b runs frequently. Chinese poker virtually never runs...
Plus, when a staff member at the Venetian tells me Red Rock has the same number of games, it means that Red Rock IS an issue.
Covering at least the BIG off-strip poker rooms is essential...

There are more places than that with poker on the Strip.
