Re: Why noobs always puts you on AK when you raise?
^ Pretty much
Remember, the VAST majority of poker players play for fun first and profit second.
The little child inside of us delights in the game and wants to WIN!!!!!!
The only way to win is to play and when you hit your hand in any way you want to see it through to the river. And in the case of being up against the preflop raiser, oftentimes the fish will tell themselve ANYTHING that enables them to call.
My favorite is raising with AK and the board is A 7 3 2 8 and I bet all three streets and the fish calls, we turn over the hands and fish has A8 and says, "Yeah, I put you on AK"
I literally have to take a deep breath and remind myself that this is the EXACT player that I want in the game. I then say, "Nice hand, well played" and muck.
Fish have no clue and god bless em for it. So, the "I put you on AK" enables them to rationalize calling you down with complete garbage as well as calling a preflop raise with complete garbage.
