We underestimate the impact of Rake and Bonus Rake We underestimate the impact of Rake and Bonus Rake

I have been thinking about this for sometime. Imagine playing on Saturday for 6 or 7 hours at a 1/2 table in Florida. In Flordia, they take a table rake, as well as a High Hand rake. In Florida, they give away $800 or $1000 every 30 minutes - and having 30 or more tables going at once is a norm.

So, lets say for this discussion, $240 is taken off table per hour (20 hands per 30 mins.. at $5 per hand and $1 for bonus) these are not extreme examples and is actual rather reasonable.

Now, for my discussion, I feel that the Rake and Bonus Rake is paid by the winner. For ease of discussion, lets agree on this. If I win a $60 pot.. and $6 was taken out of this pot, then the payer is the person that won.

So, now we play, and we play for 6 or 7 hours. Imagine how much each person is paying TOWARDS this.. over a 7 hour period .. that is $1680 that went POOOF!

What I find so interesting, is that no one is considering this. No one is talking about it. I think this is a factor that is being overlooked...

What do you think?

I think posting this under psychology is odd.

Beginner's questions I would say. Most experienced players have thought about the impact of rake before.

It's actually rather unreasonable. Or maybe the dealers go at light speed and stacks go in every hand, I don't know.

You're overestimating hands and rake. I'd say 30 hands per hour and probably average rake of $4 per pot at 1/2 w $5 cap, so more like $120 per hour, or $14 per player per hour at a 9-handed table. Of course loose players pay more rake than tight players.

I don't count promo because w a high hand promo you'll get that money back.

In any event so what? I play in inderground games and rake is capped at $10-15. It's either worth it to you to play or not.
