Re: Understanding whether or not you have ADD
OP what you first must realize is that Big Pharma is who comes up with these ridiculous generalized lists of "you might have (insert disease here) if.."
You could be watching a commercial for birth control or ass wart cream and the symptoms are going to be the same as any other illness.
Best example: RLS - restless leg syndrome. They try to get kids to take these pills for bouncing their legs when they're sitting in class. I've noticed almost everyone does it at some point or another in school, reason being: we're not meant to be sedentary.
Anyways, if you still really think you have this made up ailment, try the natural remedies before taking Ritalin.

Re: Understanding whether or not you have ADD
Believe it or not, our ancestors didn't sit in classrooms, or office cubicles, for hours on end. What you call "ADD" is merely the failure of your genes to perfectly accommodate modern society. "Depression" is another such type of failure. The pharmaco-industrial complex in cooperation with the government medicate you either to change the way your brain operates so you can function better in society (amphetamines), or take away the sadness you feel as a by-product of not being evolved to modern society (with anti-depressants).
I have a prescription for Adderall. I proactively obtained it to increase my life utility, and I use it no more than a few times a month. I'm not an idiot, I live in modern society and sometimes I will use a med to help grease the wheels to increase my happiness. But in no way do I or any other "ADD sufferers" actually have some sort of disease.

Re: Understanding whether or not you have ADD
Regardless of if ADD is an illness or a set of character traits that some people wish to change it is interesting how most discussions of ADD become centred around if someone should take drugs to combat the symptoms or not and which drugs to take if so.
What if someone doesn't want to take them. There seems to be little easily accessible information for those people still wishing to improve their lives. Whilst a good diet, exercise and sleeping routine would seem to benefit anyone is there anything more specifically directed towards ADD? What about cognitive behavioural therapy type techniques and the like? Tips on how to adapt your life to deal with it? Is there good information of this type and where is it?
It seems the immediate answers to most mental illnesses tend to be "take this drug" or simply to "man up". Surely there is something else, but what - and where - is this?

Re: Understanding whether or not you have ADD
How do you know?
Just try to go cold turkey on your pc, your ipod, video games, poker, television and all likeness for a day and if you feel like you cannot live without them, your suffering from technology overstimulation. It's just another name for ADD of today's modern society.

That is probably a good sign, if you had ADD you wouldnt be focused enough to read the list.

Re: Understanding whether or not you have ADD
the number one way to deal with any emotional sufferings is to MEDITATE. this means, meditating while you eat, drink, watch tv, work, work out, play poker, etc etc etc. flat out, there is NO OTHER METHOD that is as natural, safe, and rewarding. it takes some work, and it might feel weird at first....but well worth it in all aspects of your life, not just poker. gl

Re: Understanding whether or not you have ADD
Bro I have like half the symptoms on that list and I suspect that every single other human being alive does as well. You don't have ADD and you should NOT start taking meds.

Do you have any suggestion of books or website for meditations exercices, that would be great thanks.
