Re: ultimatum: either wife and upcoming child or poker

If your not a winning player, try polo or curling as poker is the survival of the fittest. Tragic turn of events, but it seems that OP has gotten his act together... or has he ? secret deposits of 20$ a month on tigergaming maybe?

In the event that the previous accusation is incorrect, KUDOS do you- as it takes some 1 to ball up to stop playing poker and focus on the priorities in life, if true which you wont admit to on here then Good Game.

Re: ultimatum: either wife and upcoming child or poker

INteresting thread.

I'm worried about the OP.

If you are giving up poker, then you shouldn't be on this site. You shoudln't be watching poker on TV, and you shouldn't have any poker related anything on your computer.

Otherwise, it is only a matter of time before you subcomb to temptation and play.

EDIT: Read in the post that you lost the child. I'm so sorry, and can't imagine the pain that would bring.

I hope you and the wife pull through all this. And for some of the little brains on this site, it is obvious to me that the wife's problem has very little to do with the money. Women are funny that way. they hate being lied to and the only thing they hate more than being lied to is if you love something more than them. Poker can be extremely dangerous to family life as it directly impacts the 'security' of that family.

People talk about how spending $50 per month on poker is 'ok' because they spend more on coffee.

True, but you don't accidentally spend $2K in one day on coffee. But you can do that with poker. All it takes is one weak moment of degeneracy and BAM, you wipe out a month's salary or worse.

Anyways, wish you and your wife the best and so sorry for your lost

Re: ultimatum: either wife and upcoming child or poker

Your're either:

1) making a really bad joke
2) making some kind of academic study on the subject and pretending to be in the situation you described in order to get feedback
3) a very immature person and problem gambler in serious need of professional help
