Playing short sessions when ahead and long sessions when behind

So I grind reg speed HUSNGs and I have always had this problem.
If I get ahead 3 or 4 buy-ins there is a good chance I'll quit for the day. Conversely, if I get stuck 3 of 4 buy-ins I might grind for hours trying to get even again. I know I'm leaving money on the table by approaching the game this way, but my desire to avoid losing money creates a strong emotional response that leads me to avoid risking money I've already won. The problem is purely emotional, I know this is irrational. It's an extremely hard emotion to overcome though. Has anyone conquered this? Any sage advice is welcome.

I knew a pro HU SNG specialist you just tried to play x amount of games a day. In the end, you are making a profit that is all that matters. Don't chase losses because you will be in a tilting mentality. If the opportunity is good to make money take it, regardless of result. But if you are feeling any kind of neg emotion, turn that computer off. I struggle with this in my live games. I get behind and I think all I need is that one big pot. But it doesnt always happen and I often lose more than I should. It is tough because we are humans and not robots. But discipline is key, the best we can. Knowing when to stop and when to keep going.

Right, you're absolutely correct. Thanks for responding.
I don't really have trouble with losses or tilt, I just have a problem with my emotions and how they stop me from putting in higher volume sessions. I completely understand the logic behind why I should put in more volume, but my emotions stop me from doing it. When I'm winning I want to book the win.
Any tips on how to quell these emotions?
