You will not make it anywhere in poker with that attitude. All your profit, whether its recreational or proffesional poker, will come from the "unpredictable donkeys" you described in your game. Give me 5-9 of these (depending on 6 max or ring) in each game and i will kill the game. Sure I will loose sometimes when they show up with 64o or 78o and river 2 pair against my kings or whatever, but 4/5 times when my KKs hold or whatever im printing money.

Re: Playing with idiots

the title "playing with idiots" says it all, it basically means you cant handle your own emotions in this game, if your running bad or something, then just take a week off or something, and in all honesty, i hate it when people complain about their "luck", if you started playing poker, you should realize what you were getting yourself into, it isnt some fantasy ride where you go down the river picking up all the 100 dollar bills. This isnt some way to get a million in year. NO, you WILL lose money and if you cant handle the swings, then just give the game up, cuz thats what its all about.

this is, in fact, just a downswing, and stop complaining, if you really are as good as you say your are, then variance will play out in the end

Classic opinion of a nit. Donkeys are the only legitimate reason to continue playing poker at all.

Re: Playing with idiots

Hey fellas... i thought would give you guys an update on how things have been going, I appreciate all your feedback. I think its helped me a ton. I've been running like total **** since the 12 game winstreak other than one huge night. The last 2 weeks have been horrible. If anyone cares to listen I'll give ya a short recap of my last 2 games.

First game I was pretty much card dead. And was shortstacked almost all night. Thought it was going to turn around when I got it all in with A Q with my buddy who had K 10 and asked if I would run it twice. I did. He spiked a 10 first flop and turned a K on the second run. I am really down at this point and shove UTG with KJ S and get called with AA. HE is nice so we run it twice and I loose both times. I am so damn broke and just wanna have some fun so I buy in with 10 BB's (last of my moneys) and quad up to 3/4 of my buy in with A J. I pick up jacks on the button and shove with about 20 BB. Get a insta call from the BB and we agree to run it twice.
Board comes A K A 9 6
Second run comes K K Q Q 5.

I get so pissed, turn red. Literally losing my mind. Walk out feeling like I want to kill someone.

I get fronted money to play the next game and I run like Jason Mercier early. Get max value for 2 monster hands and have 1/2 of the total pot. I then lost a big portion of my stack with QQ vs. KJ. (shoved preflop with an IDIOT). Ofcourse spiked a K on the turn. End up going out on of the biggest 3-way cooler pot I've ever been involved in. I am at rock bottom, but feel like I need to make real changes. Even though I ran good for 3 months and pretty much made a liviing off poker, it's time to get back to work and get my bankroll up. I hope I never have to be broke and stress like this again. A healthy bankroll would have helped me so much through this downswing.

Re: Playing with idiots

This is what this game is all about my friend, dealing with the swings, and realizing that variance often trumps good play, and handling your BR correctly. Most people can't do it very well, even the big time "personalities". You sir, if your , posts are true, are really prone to Tilt due to stuff that you can't control. That is weak! You should be mostly upset when you play badly, and not because others play poorly and luckbox on you. THAT WILL NEVER CHANGE. It is simply a part of the game that good players accept and move on! Sometimes negative variance is only occaisonal, sometimes it comes in buckets. Your only recourse (besides quitting) is to continue playing well and keeping your BR intact as much as you can (not easy) until the variance goes your way, and it will. Actully you have an advantage by at least realizing you have a problem with poker and looking for some sound advice. Best of luck to you sir!
