Motivation

Hey!

I was wondering about your motives to play poker.
What is the drive of the big, winning poker players?

If your drive is money...well then you quit when you have an extended bad run, or you stop when you dont feel you need money.
Maybe the competition? But that way you will tilt too much because of your ego.

So i was wondering...what is a good source of motivation in poker? Charity for exemple? Challenge of overcoming the barriers of poker?

Tell me your take on this...and your motivation.

PS: I think its one of the most important topics...in the end we all play poker to achieve something...what is your "something"? What is a good "something" that makes you a unbreakable poker player?

Re: Motivation

personally it's the intellectual stimulation and challenge. money of course is great motivation, but for me it's the rush of being in somewhat of a competition. i am motivated more in making good decisions rather than being a hundred percent results-oriented. meaning if i play bad (or make wrong decisions) i almost want to lose; the good "something" is constantly wanting to get better and as cliche as it sounds, not giving up if u have a bad run or beat (especially when u play good).

Same goes for me !
I love to feel that I outwitted my opponents, once I see his cards and see that I'm ahead, the rest is poker.
