You shouldn't invest so much into what people tell you. If you need to smoke to sleep, just smoke. Doctors are just conmen in white coats.

Smoking & Sleep

Sometimes its really hard to change a lifestyle but if you succeed then it will all pay off...now is the time to act, not in a year. You need to figure out what you want, after that just make a list of things that you have to do in order to complete your goal...I mean, these are all good solutions for your specific problem. Its really up to you & what makes you comfortable for before, during, & after you sleep is all. Good luck to the both of us!

Re: I quit smoking weed and now I can't... sleep...

Common myths

1. People need an average of 8 hours sleep per night.
FALSE - Different people need different amounts of sleep. Some people can exist quite well on 5 hours, others need 10 hours.

2. Regular exercise helps to overcome sleep problems.
TRUE - Regular exercise certainly helps with sleep problems

3. As you get older, you need more sleep.
FALSE - The older you get, the less sleep you usually need.

4. If I don't get enough sleep, I will become ill.
FALSE - Our bodies take just as much sleep as they need. Lack of sleep can make us feel uncomfortable, but it won't make us ill.

5. If you don't get to sleep in 30 minutes, you should take a sleeping tablet.
FALSE - The use of sleeping tablets will mask any bad sleeping habits you might develop.
Techniques for Sleep Management

Don't try too hard to get to sleep. Instead focus on relaxing your muscles and listen to neutral sounds outside such as the wind or the traffic.
Say the times tables to yourself or count backwards (see each number in your mind as you say it).
If you wake up during the night, get up and do something different, such as watch TV, read, listen to music. Only go back to bed when you feel sleepy.
If you find that you worry about your problems during the night, write them down to clear them out of your head. Also remind yourself that problems always seem much worse at night time. Far better to think about them in the morning.

Working out in the afternoon helps.

Re: I quit smoking weed and now I can't... sleep...

I was forced to quit smoking for a few months and here is my thoughts;

Posititve-

After 2 months of not smoking I felt smarter, more clear headed, and happy I wasn't dependent on smoking to get by. I make better decisions in spots I never noticed when I was stoned playing. I also got my sense of humor back after about a month. I got to where nothing was funny if I wasn't stoned.

Negative-

I still have a hard time sleeping months later. It took a month to have a regular appetite again. I am overall in a ****ty mood a lot more often. I also tilt more since I'm not too stoned to care.

Overall-

When allowed to smoke again, I will limit it to maybe once in the morning and once at night. There are benefits galore, but like anything else you can overdue it and burn your brain out. I have been a heavy smoker (ounce- 2 ounces of chron a week) for 8 years. This is the first time I have stopped since then and it was really life changing. I have smoked twice in the last week for the first time since April and I ate every thing in the house and slept like a baby. It was glorious. I can't wait til I'm allowed to again

Stay token my friends

^^^Lol, limit yourself to once in the morning. How about just smoking occasionally like a normal person and not immediately when you wake up? Not that I or anyone else should care, but if you want a more reasonable relationship to it, I don't think wake&bake will do it.

If you don't fall asleep in 30 minutes, get up IMO. I used to have bad sleep problems, couldn't fall asleep for hours, not at all when I was stressed etc. These days I have no issues. Of course a large part of it is about being less anxious, but also that I only go to bed when I am really tired. If I don't fall asleep in 10 minutes, which happens very rarely, I just do something completely different for a while and don't worry about it. Sure, you might be tired the next day, but that's all that can happen.

Re: I quit smoking weed and now I can't... sleep...

Wake & bake= Happy life lol. I like to start my day off in a good mood. I get pretty anxious/ADD so it helps a ton. I work out and study a little first before, but within the first hour or 2 I gotta blaze! Though, I'm not gonna say I don't sometimes load the bong the nigh before so I can immediately hit it. Being high all day is the problem for me. I literally used to smoke every hour of the day I was awake minus like 2 or 3. Being sober has really opened my eyes though. Honestly, when I can smoke again I may just decide not to, just depends if I feel it is a + or - to my life.
