As mentioned, the weed will exit your system soon. Just ride it out and drink more.

Why would anyone quit smoking weed? That's like, worse than killing puppies.

Yep, every time you smoke a blunt, God saves a puppy from drowning.

Smoking weed can definitely have an impact on your sleep. In some people, it actually can cause insomnia. If you quite after years of regular use, it will take some time for your body to adjust. There are some natural (no drug) sleep aids that might be of help. If you have a Whole Foods or other natural food market they should have them there.

It will not be easy to deal with while your body adjusts. The bong will be calling out to you when you stare at the ceiling. But, hang in there and good luck!

Re: I quit smoking weed and now I can't... sleep...

I am battling this as you are.

I'm a poker player and like alot of players my schedule always changes, basically every
night I need to go to sleep 1 hr later or something if weed isn't involved.
I find I cannot get any sleep without weed if I go to sleep at say 6am or later, basically
when the sun comes up. If I don't have weed I can't go to sleep the same time every
night.

I've been off weed 1 week now & I'm sleeping good. My trick was when I got off weed
I was going to sleep around 5pm, waking up around 1am. That first day off weed is
a long day, and when darkness hits around 6pm the next day, just the dark coming makes me tired after having been up all day. When I start with those times I'm able
to sleep okay.

For years I always have tried to take breaks from weed here & there. Just to prevent
dependency issues that I was worried might happen. The past 5 months though I've
smoked alot for me ( not so much for some), and taken very little breaks & was concerned that I'd be messing my sleep up. Right now I'm hoping to take at least 1 more
week off. I think its important for anyone who smokes to try & take these breaks.

And if you really can't fall asleep into deep sleep, then just stay up forever until you
must fall asleep. Thats my fall back if I ever have major problems. Stay up 2 days,
eventually it will become impossible to stay awake.

But as I said I think waking up earlier in the morning & going to sleep shortly after it gets dark gives most people the best chance to sleep well. Doing the other things mentioned
like exercising, avoiding caff, & finding supplements or foods that supply chemicals needed for sleep like melatonin etc help. I drink camommile tea as my last beverage of
the day. Its suppose to help, dunno if it is, but can't hurt.

Good luck man, just know your not the only one with this problem

Not sure what city you live in, but I would highly recommend bikram yoga. After being a daily toker for four years I quit. The first two months I had trouble with sleeping and anxiety/depression. I found a local a bikram yoga studio and got a membership and it has completely changed my life. Bikram yoga is a 90 minute yoga class of 26 postures in a room heated to over 100degreesF and 50% humidity. Its torture, but you feel reborn when it's over and you sleep like a baby. There's a scale at my studio and I always weigh myself before and after each class. I lose 5 pounds of water weight every class so needless to say it's great if you're trying to detox. I usually do a mid afternoon class and then head over to the casino. I feel so clear minded and alert and can comfortably play my A game for 6 hours. When I don't get to practice that day it has a noticeable effect on my game.

'Seven days without yoga makes one week.'

Obviously different chemical but I had a similar experience when I quit smoking cigarettes. I was sleeping about 2-3 hours a night for the first couple weeks. However, I woke up feeling refreshed and don't think my ability to function was affected. It went away in a couple weeks.

Maybe it's just something that happens while your body adjusts to withdrawal from a chemical you've been influenced by for a long time. I wouldn't worry about it unless it is prolonged and causing problems in your life. Enjoy the extra opportunity to get things done?

One thing you might want to consider is fasting. Fasting is a healthy and natural phenomenon - animals do it in the wild when they are sick. If you are a drug user / smoker / alcohol drinker the toxins from these activities get stored in your fat cells and can linger and cause disease. A total fast (drinking only water) can be TREMENDOUSKLY healing and it's a phenomenal spirtitual / emotional / psychological experience. It really helps you understand and put in context nutrition and eating.

Be careful about breaking fasts though! Start with liquids... soup. Then soft stuff.

I kinda disagree with that last pot.
IMOP if you fast you should juice fast.
I personally don't recommend pure water fasting.
I do agree that juice fasting is beneficial but it must be done carefully.
As said above break the fast very carefully starting with super small meals & such.

Do something that requires physical exertion that you enjoy. It will not only help you sleep but can give you an endorphin high as well. It only took me 3-4 days to regain my appetite and regular sleeping patterns, and I smoked approx 20 grams of med grade top shelf per week for years. Exercise and physical exertion will help you on many levels, phsychologically and physiologically.
