Hypnosis for poker (Q&A)

Hi Guys

I'm a hypnotherapist specialising in helping poker players reduce tilt and improve their focus at the table. I have had some excellent results over the last few months and a number of professional players are using my Mp3's as their pre-game warm up.

I've now moved to Las Vegas full time and will be looking to introduce players to the benefits of hypnosis this side of the pond.

I'm sure there is a lot of scepticism out their regarding hypnosis and it's effectiveness so I thought I would start a thread to answer any questions you may have.

Details of my products can be found on the commercial forum link

If anyone is interested in a free 5 minute MTT break Mp3 to get an idea of the concept please PM me.

Let the questions begin

Thanks

Elliot

This feels like a dumb question, but idk...it deals with altering one's state of mind so it can't be that dumb

Are there any potential side effects to your product?

There's no such thing as a dumb question.

There are no known negative side effects from hypnotic suggestion. Hypnosis is a natural state we are in many times a day. The most frequently used examples are when driving down a highway and you go into auto pilot and then can't remember the last 10 miles of the journey. Or the state between being awake and asleep in the morning.

The Hypnosis Mp3's should be viewed as a guided meditation allowing your mind to reduce stress and improve focus in a particular area.

Hypnosis/the hypnotic state gives you an opportunity to take control of your subconscious and control your emotions far more effectively. You may however find your new resources to deal with tilt extend into your RL also. Some clients have noticed improvements in relationships and reductions in stress levels whilst driving etc.

Full hypnotherapy sessions where the subjects past is used to resolve emotional issues can have more side effects. The removal of emotional weight from events can make clients re-assess their lives as they gain new confidence. It is not abnormal for clients to make life significant life changes in the months following these sessions. These are generally positive such as leaving a dead end job or unhappy relationship, but they are side effects none the less.

I hope that helps to answer your question.

Elliot

Re: Hypnosis for poker (Q&A)

Hi,

A number of my clients aren't native English speakers and the Mp3's have still had a significant impact on their game.

If you purchase the Mp3 and find it's difficult to understand just let me know and I will offer a refund.

Re: Hypnosis for poker (Q&A)

Hey Elliot,

I purchased and used your poker warm-up mp3 a few times, I have two questions regarding the mp3

Q1
In the mp3 you mention "You will always play your A-game, your poker is perfect." But if you look at performance overtime for anyone there is always a fluctuation between performing your best, your less best, and your worst. This happens for anyone and Jared Tendler refers to this concept as "the inchworm concept" in his book.

Now everytime that I listen to your mp3, this is the point where the mind rejects these words, thinking that is not possible. Does this affect the usefulness of the mp3 a lot? I have been thinking about going for a customized mp3, where you replace these thoughts with something more in the neighbourhood of "Your decision making is perfect, you are completely aware of all the aspects that go into your decisions, and take everything into consideration." Something like that.

Q2
A few times while being really into the mp3, I experienced a tingling feeling all over my body, this is also a point where I start resisting this feeling, since it feels kinda scary, is it something I should learn to let take over, or am I just weird?

Thanks in advance!

I like Jared's inch worm analogy in terms of the progression of your game over time. It's clear all players A-game's are a moving target and constantly evolving. Eventually what was your A-game at one point if you progress enough could become your C game in the future.

It must be remember though that everyone has the potential to play their best poker in every session and it is only psychological factors stopping them from achieving this (It cannot be anything else). The effort and focus you put into each session is at one level a subconscious choice. Hypnosis is effective at enabling people to perform at their best, and this has been demonstrated in a number of sports. I use these suggestions to promote a confident attitude and an assumption that playing your current "A game" is always possible especially in a post-hypnotic state. If we are focused enough it is possible to always perform at our peak and there's no reason for accepting weak or lazy sessions. Having your mind open to this concept may allow you to perform better more frequently

I have been thinking about going for a customized mp3, where you replace these thoughts with something more in the neighbourhood of "Your decision making is perfect, you are completely aware of all the aspects that go into your decisions, and take everything into consideration." Something like that. If you are aware of rejecting just those words of the MP3 then the good news is the rest is not being rejected. I would always recommend a personalised MP3 as it can be tailored to your personality type and specific issues. I had to make the released Mp3's relatively generic as I had to ensure they would have something to offer everyone but obviously this weakens the effect for the individual. Personalised Mp3s are more expensive $200 as they take time for research and recording but depending on your stakes they can be a worthwhile investment, PM me if you want further info

Q2

Everyone experiences hypnosis in a different way (so don't worry your not weird), the key is to just stay as relaxed as possible throughout. Hypnosis can't harm you in any way so it is your choice to feel or resist the sensation, I would go with whichever helps you feel most relaxed.

Thanks in advance!
I hope that helps
