how to handle achieving lots early in life, what to look forward to later? how to handle achieving lots early in life, what to look forward to later?

I'm a sort of been there done that kind of guy. Poker has allowed me the time and money to do most of the things I've dreamed about. I'm 28 and I've ticked off basically most of the stuff on my bucketlist.

eg. I've travelled the world (50+ countries), lived abroad for extended periods of time, spent a lot of time snowboarding, raced supercars at famous tracks, gone skydiving etc etc. The sort of things some people wish they could do but for various reasons (jobs, responsibilities, finances) dont.

I'm not really a career/family oriented person so finding a career or starting a family isn't a path to fulfilment imo for me.

Am I destined to be a snowbum because thats the only thing that I really enjoy and dont get bored with?

Did you just not met the right person yet or aren't you interrested at all to raise a family once?
For me it sounds a little bit like you are burned out atm. Get enough sleep / do you live healthy?
IMO the key to a fulfilled life is both having a job / work that satisfies you and having healthy social interactions. Both things can heavily vary from people to people...

Dunno, I've experienced a lot of life and in life... and sometimes I think the real problem when I read a thread like this is that the person needs to find a new way to live. I.e., a new state of mind...

Snow isn't all that great... people get older and more mature... different things appear on our psychological landscape..

will never get married (personal beliefs) and will never have children (personal decision).

i get plenty of sleep (go to bed around 10 and wake up without alarm at 8), exercise lots (mountain bike and snowboard) and eat healthy.

ive never done any 'work' which was in any way fulfilling and i have a hard time even imagining a job i would like to do. (i dont particularly need the money and i am not materialist however i do spend lots of money on once in a lifetime experiences eg driving a f1 car, hiring supercars but i have no desire to own them)

My social life interactions are limited, I have lost interest in many of my original core group of friends because they are in the 9-5 career grind and their interests do not coincide with mine. ie work and get drunk on weekends

Im 21. Have done many things people at my age havent. But still looking for way more. There is never enough! Invest money! Try to make a big business, become a billionaire! Be famous!

like i said, i have no interest in making more money, ive done 'rich people' things like driving supercars, exotic holidays etc, and while great fun, i dont think its worth the effort in working versus happiness gained in maintaining that lifestyle. id simply rather rent those cars or the lifestyle for small periods of time.

i really dont see any appeal of being famous either, and ive experienced that to an extent when i travelled to certain parts of the world where i really stood out, i found having my photo taken and everyone surrounding me pretty ****ty.

What is an achievement changes with age

8 the best achievement would prob be a trip to a chocolate factory, or staying up late

13 All the video games you ever wanted

20-30 The succes you have already had (world travel riches etc)

You may find now your achievements could shift to appreciating art/music/wine or more selfless things.

You say you have no interest in making more money a career or family, so how about helping others? if you have been to 50+ countries you must have seen true poverty and pain. Why not use your time and skills to help some of those people? Spend a year traveling whilst aiding the poor. I'm sure you'll meet some great people and you will feel much better about yourself and your place in life. Then just see where the world takes you

ive done some volunteering while backpacking, got a little bit out of it but its not something i can see myself doing again. i didnt particularly enjoy living/interacting amongst the poor. thats just me.

also i am more or less 'over' travelling too. the effort required travelling just isnt worth it anymore for me. i only travel to go snowboarding/biking now because i know i am going to have a ton of fun.

dunno if ur referring to me, but im not proud of anything ive done, its stuff that most people with no responsibilities and a little bit of money could have easily done.

and yes money has definitely changed me, i stopped caring about having/making tons of money/having things as soon as i had enough to satisfy most of my wants/needs.

I can recommend:

- Take up a musical instrument (esp guitar or piano), get a good teacher and try and become as good as possible.

- Join a bridge club. Awesome, super-engrossing game with an interesting community attached (if you get past the 'LOL, old people image').

being asian my parents forced me to learn piano from ages 8-18 which i absolutely despised.

im guessing i wouldnt take to bridge either, i dont like card games poker included.

thanks for suggestions

It's not about what you buy, it's what you do.

Practice mindfullness, live in the moment, be glad of your existence.

already worked out collecting experiences is far greater than collecting things. ive been doing that for years.

i have issues with leading a dull normal life. i find it very difficult to live in the moment and being glad of just existing when that involves doing mundane everyday things. im always looking for the next big experience/adventure.

I see, try not to live/look into the future. Everyday things are not mundane, you just need to look deeper into them. There is an infinite amount of beuaty there.

I am a keen amatuer street photographer, to take really good pics, takes patience. Once you have found a potential scene, you have to wait for the image to come to you. Could be people, nature, whatever, but you need to wait and just enjoy the moment.

Read up some Buddhist literature

Is a very good writer.
