How do I stop gambling? - Page 2 - Psychology in Poker and Gambling

Yeah so, for the past 4 years (im 26), I've been playing poker and losing, and the past few months blackjack. Although I've won 3 times within those few months as opposed to years in poker. Now that I've been playing blackjack, I finally have no desire or will to play poker. That **** is slow and boring, and I'm going to be 30 soon. I have better chances at making money in mcdonalds.

Regarding blackjack, I'm dreaming about it at night but my bank account is empty from losing, my account is always overdrawn, and I haven't had a conversation with a girl in 7 years.

No, I'm not gonna kill myself, scared of dying. How do I sweat this addiction out of my body so i can live a normal life?

Try to play and not to think about money. Sorry for the question, but how do your work in mcdonalds? What is your profession there? I`m interested

It`s a good advice. Earlier I read the Psychological Cybernetic by Maxwell Molz and he is of the same idea - -you need to concentrate on anything good and set the purpose in your nearest future. Eventually you have to displace the love of the other games of love or passion..)

Did you hear about the rule of 21? If you do the same things 21 days in a row, it becomes your habit. The same if you do NOT the same things.. don't gamble f.ex. Yep, it's difficult, but if you really want to stop...

Im not sure how much I would put into the "rule of 21". It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

So if you do it 20 it wont click but on the 21st itll just miraculously click all of a sudden?

Hi, stopping your biggest habit of playing game of chances like Poker will really depend on how you are determined and disciplined. First, sort out the advantages and disadvantages. Just think of it and focus on what does it do you good? Obviously, the disadvantages weigh more and those has been affecting everything especially your money and savings. Why not try to focus on other important things that you will enjoy too.

the most important is to focus on other acitivities during the whole day that will keep you busy, try to spend more time near your family and to find some interesting activities, maybe hobies about which you forget already that would bring you satisfaction.

Right on for telling some other people about the problem.

Anything you can do now to improve the situation will help you out in the future. I know that sounds obvious, but it's very true.

Getting towards 30 does feel that way, but you will still have natural energy for quite a few years to come believe me. You've got a long way to go. Learn some new things, make some new habits. Would highly recommend speaking to someone who you trust in person.

It is very good to involve a good psychologist if you want to solve such a problem because it is too difficult to handle it by himself, I would say impossible. Also your family (friends) should be near you ready to help and sustain you.

Learn to win , man never quit and get it all back! You have no future so why not gamble it up? There Are other things successful people do that are very similar like kidnapping rape and revolution (get elected). If you didnt know lossing at poker it is your own fault same with BJack, you could also use counterfeit money in China, man up.
