Do you find yourself when in a decision to buy something that you dont really need...say to yourself "thats like one buy-in in poker" or "one big blind" and use that as a justification to buy stuff?
I've been overeating recently partly because of this Think how much time and effort you need to put in to earn this buy-in, it's usually several hours. Is this stuff worth these hours of grind? If you feel it is, the purchase is OK.
I would say this is something a lot of good poker players do.. By good I mean ones that make a good living..
Ive been thinking about this subject recently.. I think most poker players are some what insecure with their job (playing poker) and when I say insecure, I mean wanting to impress people with what they wear or have, because they are constantly being judged by people who don't really understand poker...
So when someone says "oh do you actually make money at poker" the poker player can casually pull up his burberry coat sleeve, to reveal his 7k hublot watch (casually) and say "yeah I make money, I'm actually pretty good".
Just my logic for why poker players like to destroy their bankrolls on the finer things.
This is somewhat deviating from this thread but...I wanted to gather thoughts on how people (especially those who do this for a living) differentiate between spending and building their bankrolls?
