Does anyone have thoughts or experience on how the color of your clothing at a live poker table might influence the action of your opponents? Obviously clothing style, age, gender, etc. all play a role but I just mean specifically focusing on the color, mainly shirt color.

For example a bright red shirt might make you more noticeable / more of a "target", Navy blue or black light help you blend in with the crowd, bright green might get opponents thinking more about money, etc.

If this really has an effect, albeit probably subtle, you might tailor your color choice to the kind of action you are trying to get. (I.e. red if you usually have the goods but want to get paid off, blue if you are trying to get away with occasional bluffs, etc.)

It might also be something to watch for in your opponents' clothing color to make sure it is not affecting your own play.

When I play live 4/8LHE, I almost always wear a bright blue Colts cap, a Colts jersey, t-shirt or sweater, and sweat pants, and my card protector has a Colts horseshoe on it.

The few times I *didn't* dress like that I saw absolutely no difference in the reaction of the other players when I sit down.

If anything, I gain attention because I raise so much, not because of how I dress.

I don't really mean any sort of visible / verbal reaction when you sit down... I mean a subtle influence on opponents' decisions when they're looking at you during hands. Admittedly this is going to be a small and borderline subconscious influence at best but I think it's at least *possible* it can influence action / image.

Ask a marketer if the color scheme of an advertisement messes with peoples' emotions / reactions on a level the audience doesn't even detect. (Spoiler alert: it does)

This is a pretty interesting idea but I think people look for so much more in the facial expressions and motions of their opponent than they do the color. But maybe an aggressive red color shirt would cause one to think the other guy is being aggressive more frequently and/or bluffing. There would be a lot of variables to control for if you were ever going to try to test this. A lot of variables. In fact, it might be easier to dress up a mannequin and tell participants what the action is rather than trying to have a person exactly replicate an action. It'd be a fun little research project though.

No, no, no. I question you wearing sweatpants ANYWHERE. I didn't know people still make them. I always think of Homer Simpson complaining that the crotch wears out too quickly. I think The Simpsons also made reference to sweatpant wearers as people who have given up in life.

But I actually am all about comfort so do your thing. I just found it interesting.

You can wear black, put on head phone, and people won't notice you're playing tight. I'd notice though. It's better to practice.inferring other player's attitudes towards poker strategy by looking at their clothing, demeanor, and how they buy-in and stack their chips. Flamboyant means flamboyant. Conservative means conservative, etc.

If you dress up very nice and conservative, and play the opposite, you may fool people for an hour. I'd also assume people dressed in a suit are going to play tired later in the session.

Seat pants I'd associate w LAG. Sports motive gives some street cred, IMO. Order the soup, lol.

Black is the ultimate, "let's blend in" color. I"d assume you're a tourney TAG. Officials wear black to not be noticed.

Ive seen most tourist dress super casual and light colored in my games, as for a personal option, I like to wear some sports jerseys to seem like an average joe thats just there to have fun
