1000 hours of grind then busted in a few days

Hello 2+2

My big problem is that although I can beat the micros l still was not able to build a roll because at some point I always get impatient and start playing bad and burning the results of several hundred hours quality grind.
What really frustrates me that stars nl5 is full of solid regs and I dont want to accept that I really have to fight that hard for the 5dollar pots.

Stars is tilting me always at some point. 2 days ago I deposited 100 dollars and startad playing nl5. In 3 hours I won like 4BI then the same day in another session I lost it back all in half an hour. I went on tilt and busted the whole roll playing 15 dollar HU SNG with my last 15.

What do you advise? Shall I be less result-oriented in the short term? Shall I play on a different site with more fish? I am beating Bwin nl4 with 15bb/100 on a 40k hands sample I just like Stars software better but Stars is so much full of regs! Maybe stars nl2 is equivalent to Bwin nl4?

How can I overcome my bad habits?

What is the point if you can't handle this?

All you need to do is become better than the 12 tabling 5nl idiots. Also, if you don't find it fun and your scared of the lowest predators in poker, then you should just give up.

If you're playing for fun, playing micros is ok. You sound like you're not having fun anymore. Maybe you should step back from the game and ask yourself what exactly you are trying to achieve.

Maybe you would like to start taking poker a little more seriously and your lack of results is starting to nag at you. You can likely succeed at higher limits if you dedicate yourself to a plan on how to get there.

I give it another go with a different mindset. Starting at Nl5 I will try to grind myself up to NL25 as first step.

If I feel discomfort in any session I just finish it and go doing something else. A couple of months should be enough - I give myself time and try not to hurry.

The 50 bucks I deposited yesterday is now $110 playing nl2/nl5 exclusively (on stars)
I reached gold star this month. If I manage to get to a 250$ roll I move up to nl10 and decrease nr of tables running (9 of them currently)

You should really check out "The poker mindset". Fantastic book about dealing with swings of poker and I think you could really do with it, I was like you in that I would tilt at losing sessions very easily and this book helped me a load.

Re: 1000 hours of grind then busted in a few days

dude i have never played as low as 5nl lowest i played was 10nl when i started a few years back... i have to say that 10nl was never full of regs either was 25nl or even 50nl though 50 does have a few more semi reasonable players.... for you to call all these guys regs doesnt really say much.. i would summarise players into one of these categories normally using the stars color code system on notes
1. green=suspected fish
2. orange=loose passive fish
3. dark purple= bad agressive fish
4. red= tough regular
5. purple= weak regular

its important to distinguish between a good regular and a weak regular. for example a weak regular might play a 21/18 style but fold 90% to 3 bets when OTB versus the BB.. A good regular adjust to this.. A weak regular might cbet 100% of the time but only bet the turn 30%.. a weak regular will only 3 bet 3-6% of the time...
these weak regulars which make up most micro stakes regulars are very exploitable and profitable to play against provided we use the correct strategy..

playing NL5 is a waste of time.

Start out @ NL25 or don't bother. you can make much more working a $7.50 Hour job.

NL25 is where you can maybe make a tad more than $7.5

NL50 - you can do around $10 - $15

So why waste ur time with NL5? Get a job - save up $1,000 and put it on stars and grind NL25 or don't play. NL5 is a joke.

I agree partly but I want to be a proven winning player before moving up to higher limits. Otherwise its not only waste of time but waste of money as well.

i kinda agree with this. Also poker is a game for responsible people, setup a goal, stick to it. Either u play for fun and have a budget to blow or you play to earn money.

This said getting impatient and blowing it up will follow you while moving higher, you need to deal with it, how i dunno? be more calm? set a stop loss.

lol @ 1000 hours grinding

just save up a bankroll and then play NL25, just 2-4 table and write heaps of notes, table select really well and study the game a heap

grinding 5nl is a waste of time, you'll only pickup bad habits in such fish infested games

you either take poker seriously or you dont

its not 2007 where you can just jump up and crush every limit the rake is too high

It's not a waste of time, you can learn a lot for cheap in $5.00 buy ins. If you think you tilt losing $5.00 buy ins wait until you lose a few $25.00 buy ins.
