tournament structures

the structures i feel like can be better in some ways. when u get deep in a turny it feels like most players dont have enough bb's for play and i feel this is like this because there are a few blind levels that are completely skipped as in the 250/500 level witch is a key factor level in tournaments along with the 350/700 level these 2 levels alone add for 20 more mins with much needed time to be 20-30 bb's effective instead of haveing most the field 3-16 bb's effective and it being a punt fest. and there are plenty of other levels that are skipped that could be added.

i feel without these levels good players are being cheated without knowing that these levels are skipped

there are even more higher levels skipped but ones that are much important are the ones i have noted. but the bigger the site grows the more player that enter the more levels skipped are bad for everyone.

for turny players i know this is a key thing that mess's with the flow of how it should be played. i feel like the levels i have started are must add's please.
many turnys i was among the chip leaders and all of a sudden the whole field has 3-12 bb's and im like wtf get it in and not cash when i should have made final 2 tables min or the ft

this is a major issue

please everyone add your thoughts on this

Re: tournament structures

Every tournament is like a turbo - but I have to admit it's kind of nice to be able to complete a tournament in 3-4 hours, especially since I live on the east Coast and work in the mornings. Definitely turns into a shove fest the last few tables though.

Re: tournament structures

The final tables are all flipping festivals. Would be nice to have some room to play. But do you really wanna play for 6-7 hours for a $2 buy in? The $2 1500 GTD takes 4 hours to complete the way the structure is now. But I do agree with you for the most part.

Re: tournament structures

they go from 150-3 to 2-4 to 3-6 to 4-8 to 5-1000, I'm not seeing how not having an extra 10 minutes of 250-500 in there is crucial and wrecking the events.

The late stages/FT are definitely shallow money. I guess I have mixed feelings about that. Would I like more play at the final table? Yes. Do I want to end up extending the tournaments by 2-3 hours to accomplish that? No, definitely not. At least, not on their current schedule where we are talking about a few hundred on top. When they get to the point they are offering bigger prize pool events where there are thousands or 5 figures on top, then yes and I think most who don't want these small prize pool mtt's to drag on 6-7 hours would agree with a big payday on top they don't mind more time to work their game.

I do wholeheartedly disagree that the current structure is somehow cheating good players out of their edge. What it's doing is making it harder for the tight players to play their game of waiting for big hands, but those players that are simply waiting for premiums until they are blinded down to 2BB's are not good players (even though they invariably think they are). Their depth of understanding of tournament poker is shallower than the FT average stack.

The money being shallow late does increase variance and that's unpleasant for most of us, but the good players are the ones who understand how to adjust to it and they have quite an edge over the players blinding off waiting for big pairs and AK.

Re: tournament structures

there are a few crucial levels that are skipped on the 300/600 level say u have 24 bb's all of a sudden u lose a 4k pot with aces then in a short time u have 3-4 bb's

thats wrecked like with 3 tables left people should no be 3-13 bb's effective thats all wrong

there should deff be 250/500 level forsure no other site skips that level it is a key time to build the stack

Then simply add the levels but also add antes in to help push the action.

This is something Mr_Gr33n is forgetting about. Missing a blind round or 2 really isn't adding up to the amount antes would at FT.

I also agree with glutenfree's post above. I don't think anyone wants to play extra hours currently. $25 or $30k GTD may be different, but not a $500.
