Is there a wait list for tables? Is there a wait list for tables?

I can't find a wait list for full tables. Have to stalk the lobby until a seat opens.

There's none but we're already working on it.

No wait list is better. Forces people to start games rather than wait for a table.

Interesting. I thought everyone wanted a waiting list of some sort.

The less pro friendly and more rec/amateur friendly global stays the better. There are plenty of grinder friendly sites out there already.

+1 for no waitlist. Gets more tables going instead of 10+ people waiting for a seat at the juiciest table.

+1. No wait list works nicely here and is another positive factor that separates Global from other sites imo.

It saddens me to hear you're devoting precious resource time to developing this, it is not going to make the games better for casual players.

Back then there was an issue where another player jumped in on the table even though someone else was already there waiting and already chatting on the table with the other players.

That could happen once in a while if the chatter isn't watching when a seat opens up. And I'm sure if it was one of your more vocal complainers (there are a few huge crybabies just like everywhere) they gave you an earful. The thing is the player who sat down may have been waiting longer anyway. I often wait with tables open without chatting before I sit.

One time I was waiting for a table and a player who busted took the max time before getting removed. I sat down and bought in. Then they came screaming in chat bloody murder that "Global gave away their seat and didn't give them a chance to rebuy". Which is LOL obviously and yes it was one of the big crybabies. But you know what I did? I offered to leave the seat if they wanted to sit back down and I'd wait for the next one. When does that ever happen in online poker? That's right, never. That's the kind of friendly environment you have, and if there were wait lists I would never have made that gesture because I would have no chance at the next seat, I'd have to start over on the bottom of the list.

I've been on global for months now and at first, I thought the lack of a wait list was annoying because that's what I was used to. But I quickly came to appreciate it and I'm telling you, imho it works quite well. Please reconsider changing it and devote your limited resource time to something more urgent or beneficial to the continued growth of the site, which this is neither and may even end up being detrimental.

Duly noted. Thank you so much for your insight.

I'm not saying you guys are wrong, but I question whether wait lists is a simple reg/rec issue - regs want it, recs don't need it may be a little too simplistic. Might there not be a lot of recs that are intimidated by the idea of starting a table, having to play heads-up, etc.?

I would think (and this is from someone who hasn't played for a couple of years now so I could be out of touch) that the ideal solutions would be either a global wait list (no pun intended), or no wait list but having incentives to start new tables.

If neither of those options is viable, I suppose no wait list is better than having one for each table.

Some recs might be for sure. But no one has to start a new table if they don't want to. They can watch the lobby and wait for a seat to open at a full table, or open a few tables and watch for a seat (which is a bit faster than waiting for the lobby refresh).

Incentives to start new tables would be nice.

I would also like a wait list

As your traffic increases (and I'm sure it will as you guys are by far the best option for US players right now) it will be an utter mess without wait lists.

I like how Carbon does their seating. What about not having a wait list and if we could just have a stake to choose and then it automatically sits us and we can choose our minimum players and max players?

Many of the recs won't want to play shorthanded or headsup. That is part of the problem. Another way of incentivizing maybe is a table starter rake back program or something.

Why over complicate anything?

Just add the wait lists. They've worked on many of the best sites forever. Only ******ed sites like Ignition or Carbon are messing with a simple proven method of seating a player. Just read through their forums, most players are not happy, especially with Ignition's latest "upgrade".

It was annoying today to have to keep looking for a seat to open up while playing at the same time. It will only get worse as the number of tables increases.

I agree. Pokerstars has waiting lists, enough said. God I miss Pokerstars

After reading the thread, I think a wait list for individual tables is a bad idea. It will encourage to much bum hunting

I think a global wait list would be a good option, though. I hate having to watch the lobby for an open seat, then opening the table and having to out click someone else who is waiting to join. If I'm x-tabling, it leads to time outs, etc

What if there's a wait list, and if a certain number of players are waiting, they start a new game? (Like if a 6-max list is started, a table will start when 4 players join the list)

Nearly every poker site has gotten rid of wait lists and for very good reason. What ends up happening is that certain recreational players will attract huge waitlists. A really long wait list at a table makes other players take notice and wonder, "Why is there such a long wait list for this table?". So they also watch the table and find out who the bad player is and then they start to hunt him in the future. This dynamic perpetuates itself and before long you'll have a game filling instantly around the target player to the point where he starts to feel preyed upon and his level of fun goes way down.

For the long term health of your site, do not implement wait lists.

**This post is only waitlists for individual tables. A global waitlist that would seat a player at the first available open seat at his stake would be a good option.**
