I know my answer is yes, because I've done manual dwindling stack late registration before (registering earlier in the day knowing I'll be home 10-30 min late and blinded off for that time). They open registration early enough to do this pretty easily.

And I've had something delay me, and missed the start by 1 minute, yes that's frustrating. It's not a problem for me personally, if I miss a tourney I had planned to play I just go to cash games. But for a tourney player it's frustrating. The problem is, late reg doesn't fix that issue, just delays it. The issue will always exist. If they make a 30 min late reg period for example, there WILL be people who get logged in at the 31 minute mark and miss it. So to be frank late reg is not a fix for that problem, there is no fix for it. Be timely, or reg early. Or accept you may miss the occasional tourney when cutting it close.

+1 for no late reg.

I wouldn't mind a short late reg window (say, up to 30 min), but tourneys that let people register 2-3 hours late are awful for so many reasons. I want to have some idea of how big the field is & how long the tournament will take, and I don't want people registering super late and timing out every hand to min-cash.

+1, this is why they need to keep no late registration, not even a short late registration. If they start with a 10min late registration people are going to complain that it needs to be longer. They extend it to 30 min and like you said people are still going to miss registration. Next thing you know we're playing on a site with 3 hour late registration.
