If you invest $1000 and the total return including investment is $1100 ($100 profit), the POT is 10% as is the return on investment, they seem to mean the same thing just worded differently is this correct? thanks.

I've never heard anyone use the term "profit on turnover", can you link to some examples?

It seems to me - and this is just my impression from the types of questions that turn up here from time to time - that in Australia and UK the horse race betting industry has a lot of lingo specific to them. I think - again, just an impression, the people giving advice do this to make it seem more complicated than it is.

In this case, from a quick review of a few sites, "turnover" is just their term for the total amount bet over a period of time. So to answer you question, yes.
