Sadly, we've just learned that one of the nicest contributors to the Probability Forum over the years, Buzz, passed away last month. There's a tribute thread in the O8 forum where he was a moderator:

Ah hell. When I saw mention he hadn't logged in to 2+2 in a month, I thought it almost had to be that. Buzz was probably the most patient poster on an internet forum I've ever seen.

Very very sad news. I didn't interact much with the guy, but always been impressed by his good attitude and kindness. He made several excellent posts in this forum. He will be missed for sure.

His knowledge displayed in this sub-forum was prodigious. He never was heavy-handed in his occasional disagreements, either. (He was usually right, anyway!)
