I just built this simulator - https://adamzerner.github.io/texasHoldemSimulator/. What do you guys think? Useful? What should be added?

The reason I built it is because I was reading a book talking about the fact that if your opponent has an unpaired starting hand, they'll miss the flop 1/3 of the time, so maybe it's worth betting in to them. But I wanted to know how often they have a flush draw, straight draw, lower than top pair, two overcards etc.

(It's obviously still in the "rough draft" stage, and could use all sorts of UI improvements. I'll put more time into it if others find it useful.)

I honestly can not tell what's going on in the simulator, like, what is it simulating?

Your method of selecting board cards is not good. It takes, for example, 6 clicks for me to select a flop, when I could instead just easily type it in like "2c 3d 4h". It would take me 10 clicks to specify a full board.

Sorry that the UI wasn't clear. I just added a help page: https://adamzerner.github.io/texasHo...ator/help.html. It's like Flopzilla, but free and not as good.

As for other UI improvements, I want to see if there's interest from people before investing more of my time with it.

OK so it makes a lot more sense now. I think it's useful to satisfy some curiosities if nothing else.

In addition to the interface comment I had before, I would also make the preflop range selection be a grid where you can select hands. I'd use the type 1, 2, 3 etc presets to let someone create a starting grid and edit from there. This would let you reduce or eliminate the preflop selection types more or less, also.

For some of the outcomes I might distinguish between ones that use 0, 1 or 2 cards from your hand. For example, many of the 2 pairs you'll make are one pair from your cards and one on the board and so forth. These are strategically very different from 2 pair using 2 cards from your hand.

Thanks for the comments. Those sound like good ideas and are definitely things I could do.

I do value comments about features and UI, but I'm also particularly interested in knowing if this is something you want to use. If it were free? If it were a dollar or two? If there are people who want to use this, I'll spend time on it. If not, I think there are more productive things I could be doing. (I know I didn't make this clear in my previous post/comment)

Well, I probably wouldn't use it, but I already have tools that suit me better. I made sort of a scripting language that lets me answer questions like these (and a lot of other less well defined ones).

But possibly people will find it useful.

My view is that Flopzilla calculating exact percentages makes it way more valuable than a simulation. Flopzilla's $35 price tag is peanuts for any serious poker player willing to expend the time and energy to utilize such software.

If you are genuinely seeking feedback, you may want to post in the 2+2 Software forum.

As for exact percentages, if you bump up the number of simulations from 10,000 to 100,000, it'd be +/- like .1/.2%, and I can't imagine such a small difference leading to different decisions in practice. However, Flopzilla is definitely faster.

That makes sense that serious players are willing to pay the $35. I'm not sure how big the market is for less serious players though.

Thanks for the recommendation to post in the software form, I didn't see it.

I just wanted to give you a heads-up on that front. I speak from personal experience working in the analytical decision software industry for many years that most people make a fundamental distinction between simulators and calculators.

To what degree that is relevant for your software's potential acceptance I cannot say. In any event, I wish you the best of luck.
