Lottery probability has good pot odds ?

Ok I took a ****ing adderal lol ,and while my brain was racing I came across the odds of winning the jackpot Im powerball lotto is 175,550,xxx to 1 ....Being a poker player I had to ask myself does that mean if the JP gets above that number doesn't that mean I'm getting correct pot odds as they say to buy a ticket lmao????

Also did the math and at those odds it would take 48,000 plus years at 10 tickets a day for the odds to come in lol! So pot odds correct but -ev cause of years takes to win ?

Not sure how to figure out math on two people winning the JP at same time, but def after taxes and chance of multiple winners and plus the years it takes for the odds to come in playing lottery is def -EV as they say......

We all already knew this tho lol....I just had seen the odds on hitting JP and thought at first it be good pot odds after it was above 175 mill ....def not true

Re: Lottery probability has good pot odds ?

Yeah, taxes and jackpot splitting have ruined it for every Powerball/Megamillions drawing, even the record setting one this spring. And Powerball is $2 now, so you would need a near a $350 million cash option jackpot without taxes and jackpot spitting, to make it +EV. With both of those...lol, the jackpot probably becomes so large, that the current draw sales end up making it -EV anyway. Since the US demands taxes on lottery winnings, its overall return is dismal.
