The opposite tends to be true if a player suggests that they will show a player their hand if they fold to a bet. It's human nature to say the opposite of what you want the player to do .. it's like a challenge. So when you hear a player say "I'll show you if you FOLD." they want you to call. If a player says "You're not CALLING, are you?" or "I'll take a CALL" they usually want a fold. Notice that the 'call' statements are opposites, but the word 'call' is what I look for and therein lies the challenge to the opponent to do the opposite, fold. GL

Whenever anyone asks you that, just keep your mouth shut and stare at the board. I once had someone ask me repeatedly more than 5 times. Never answer, regardless of what your hand is.

I almost never call the clock (only once in the last 5 years), but if someone asks me 5 times, I'd probably call the clock.

This is what I always say. It gives away no information about the strength of your hand. And if he agrees I learn far more about him from what is in his folding range than he learns about me from what is in my betting range.

That is the best advice I've ever heard about that situation, which happens all the time. If you give that response every time, then there's no information provided, but you don't appear to be a jerk by not responding. Brilliant!

You get more info from him, but everyone else at the table gets free info from you.

I usually do this when I'm medium strength and very close to a fold. Only rarely has the answer lead me to change to a call. Weaker players may say yes they will show because they actually want you to fold or have a big hand and like the gasps of showing the table a big hand...I don't even try this with regs because I'll end up leveling myself with their answer

Would that generally be the best response most likely to get a call? I tried "I'll think about it" the other day and the guy folded, so scratch that one I guess :P
