Welcome to the Poker Tells/Behavior forum. This forum will be dedicated to talking about live poker behavior and tells. What kinds of things should be posted here?
- Footage of hands featuring interesting behavior
- Hand histories where behavior was a factor (or could have been a factor) in decision-making
- Questions and thoughts on behavior and tells
I’m Zachary Elwood, the host of this forum. A little about me:
I'm a former professional poker player and I've written a couple books on poker behavior: Reading Poker Tells and Verbal Poker Tells. I've written articles about poker behavior for a lot of poker publications, including Two Plus Two Magazine, Bluff Magazine, and PokerNews. I also served as a behavior consultant for a WSOP Main Event November Niner.
Most recently, I've been working on an ongoing series of poker tells training videos. You can get a Two Plus Discount on my video series; more details here
For those of you who aren’t familiar with me, I want to make it clear: I don’t consider poker tells a major factor in live poker. I think behavior CAN be a big game-changer, especially when playing certain opponents who have reliable patterns. But much of the time, it's not going to be a big game-changer. Some people assume, because I'm interested in poker tells, that I think they're a hugely important part of poker, and that's just not the case.
Also I want to say: I don't consider myself all-knowing or infallible when it comes to talking about behavioral stuff (and definitely not about strategy). I'm constantly learning new things, and that's one of the reasons I love the game of poker. So when I give my opinions in this forum, please know that I do so humbly.
Welcome to the forum. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
