I was working on a new video about the 'stretched-out lips' facial expression from bettors and thought I'd share this photo compilation I made of some of the hands I'm using.



In general, the stretched-lips expression (not to be confused with pursed lips) will indicate strength from a bettor. Sometimes people do it before betting or after betting. It has a 'worried' meaning so it's not surprising it shows mostly from players with strong hands.

In its most subtle form, it shows up very quickly; just a flash. Even then, it's quite reliable as relaxation and strength.

Anyone have any experience with this tell? Any comments on its reliability?

i like this post a lot, just started thinking about this and i know a few rec type people who do this mouth tell.

Meant to also say: I don't think this is a super-powerful tell without prior correlation. I have a lot of examples of players who regularly do weird things with their lips when betting, whether strong or weak. But for players who usually are pretty stoic when betting, even a little, quick lip movement will generally mean they're pretty relaxed.

I call this a smile blocker ... In real life it's usually tied in with a head tilt and 'twinkle' eye or raised eyebrow (or both). Almost like, well dude - the answer's pretty obvious, I gotcha!!

I agree that you need some history with V, but I see it most with V who are generally 'tell-less' and then this pops up all of a sudden. GL
