You have to be very careful here. Protecting your face is more of a defensive or stress reaction. It could mean that you are weak or bluffing, or it could just mean you are stressed.
Tells exist (they are most useful if you can catch them in the second after information is revealed), but interpreting the tells without a baseline is very tricky business.
