My GF usually sits by me when the 1/2 table is boring. It doesn´t affect my play. Due to her job, it does affect how other people perceive me and talk to me.

It´s much more fun then watching netflix&chill..

Just to de-sexify this thread a bit, what if you just met a guy at an LGBTQ anti-Trump march and had him sit behind, only he'd be wearing a studded leather collar and a leash that you clip to your pinkie? AND... Would it matter if you were short stacked? or how much he looks like Freddie Mercury?

1. I would be too embarrassed to have my wife sit at a game...just kinda seems ...weird...

I agree with the poster who distinguished it on the basis of how close the girlfriend is sitting. I try to get my girlfriend to sit with me instead of in the area of empty tables, but that is so she doesn't get anxious to leave and feels like she is spending time with me. Doesn't affect my play one way or another. Plus, I am still trying to get her interested in the game, and don't want to risk loss of support by ignoring her while I play.

However, I would trust your reads on his and/or her appearance to determine whether a girlfriend's presence is likely to influence play, and in what manner.

As an aside, last week at the Winstar (about an hour north of Dallas), a guy in his 40s or 50s dressed rather like a cowboy (fair enough, it is basically cowboy country) wearing a large Rolex sat down with two blondes standing around behind him. The blondes were probably not over 35, and I'm going to take a wild guess and say they weren't keeping him company for free. Guy tried to be table captain at the 2/5 - he and I were the only non-professionals, and half of them were only at that table because the 5/10 had broken. Burned through 2 buyins in less than an hour, then escorted the ladies back to the casino area. (Or perhaps they were the escorts?)
