New to this subforum but looking to get better at this part of the game. One thing i have noticed, is a lot of times if an opponent asks you if you have something they often have it. see example:

On a flop with a FD oppoent bets and you call in position. Opponent starts askign you if you hvae the FD. A lot of times he has the FD. I think the reasoning behind this is it has to do with a lack of creativity. It is a lot easier to ask a player if he has a specific hand that you've seen (ie you've seen your own cards) then make up a random hand. also takes less time.

Thoughts?

Hope i explained that clearly not sure i did.

Oh this is good. Additionally when three of the same suit come out on the board I've had people say "Oh so everyone has the nut flush?" In this scenario the one noting about the nut flush tends to have the Ace of that suit.

As with any 'tell' it needs to be player specific and backed up over time. Of course against an unknown opponent it's hard not to generalize something we have seen before.

Zach's books do a wonderful job of breaking down circumstances that may go along with a tell.

In this case here I would also consider whether action was on the V or action was on another player when the 'information' was offered. Why does this V want to 'make sure' that I see what is directed in the comment.

In most cases these comments come from the opponent picking up on a tell that we are giving off or wanting further information on an action that we have taken. In a lot of cases the V does this because he thinks we are leaning in the opposite direction than what he wants us to take with our action or is unsure as to what our action means that we have already taken.

In general I do find that a lot of V will offer 'opposite' information and you may have something when you suggest that it's the easiest thing they can come up with on 'short notice'. GL

another aspect of this is if they are asking about a hand type that isn't the nuts, they can beat it. It's the Rounders thing.

Board is 9s7s4s9c. They ask if you have the flush. They have a boat.

Or similarly, they say something like "jacks are no good" when it's obvious that you have a way better hand than that, when they have the nuts. Trying to trick you into thinking they are value betting a worse hand than yours.
