Help me to remember this Pineapple Stud rule Help me to remember this Pineapple Stud rule

Was playing 9/18 mixed at Aria a couple summers ago, and interestingly to me, all of the stud games were played as a pineapple variant... 3 hole cards, one dealt door card. I remember we were required to discard one hole card prior to 4th street or prior to 5th street, but I can't remember which. If you failed to discard before this street, your hand was declared dead.

Anyone remember this game? Or anyone know the convention in pineapple stud games. Is there a standard point in the hand where discards happen?

Thanks for any help.

Why don't you call the Aria poker room (at a slow time) and ask?

"My friends and I got drunk and played some sort of awesome pineapple stud game last time we were in Vegas. We can't remember what the name was or exactly what the rules are but we really loved it and were wondering if you could give us any information about it."

Super Stud is 4 hole cards, discard 2 before 4th street. Probably what he is thinking of.

1) I have no reason to believe the game is still running.
2) Even if it were, why should I expect the floor to know the rules? The game was pretty much run by the players.
3) This wasn't "some sort of" Micky Mouse game. There were permanent plaques for the pineapple stud, in an established Vegas mixed game.
4) Some people here might have played in the game, and might easily remember the appropriate point in the hand where the discards happen.

Thanks. Maybe it's evolved beyond pineapple and they're getting 4 hole cards when the game is short handed.

Do you know if your hand is declared dead if you fail to discard before forth street is out?

Without ever playing the game, I would say yes. That's generally the standard when you're playing a game that requires you to discard cards from your hand. If you fail to do so, it's a dead hand.
