this is all for 1/3

Currently playing at a casino with 10% up to $7 BUT every hand postflop is +$2 for high hand, and bad beat bonus, and a $1 dealer tip

so a $40 pot is $7 rake
a $70 pot is $10 rake
a $400 pot is $10 rake

by rake i just mean an inclusion of everything

vs this rake 10% up to $15

$40 pot is $4
$70 pot is $7
$400 pot is $15

how much worse is the 2nd rake?

No tipping in the second casino?

What kind of high hand promo? Hit often? Casino takes out 0% or 47% for 'admin fees'? Does the money go for other promos like bad beat jackpot or freeroll tournaments?

What size pots do you usually win in each place?

No tipping in the 2nd one

1st one is quad 8s beaten for bbj
High hand is just highest 8 hands of the day, I'm assuming they skim ~5-10%

2nd one is flopped royal

The size pots is so situational depending on the table

It seems that the $40 pot doesn't get the $2+tip added, maybe I'm missing something? Anyway, I'd pick the second place bec there aren't all that many $400+ pots at 1/3 are there? Also, and I'm guessing, are you playing in Australia or New Zealand?

In the second game, a $150 pot will be raked for $15 though. That's where you're going to lose the most value. If you raise pre and get 2 calls, flop a flush draw then take it down with a double barrel, you lose 5bb to rake when you didn't even take 1/3 of villain's stack.

Well, I'm confused. I took the $400 rake to be the threshold so nm my opinion.

I think that a player's style and typical table dynamic will affect where they 'should' play. Although I may see the potential benefits of the $2 promo fee (if I'm a reg) I don't really care where the rack goes, I just care about how much it is.

On one hand I like the lower $10 cap, but I'm also an active player and take down A LOT of pots on the Flop where these are actually penalized by the $3 'fee' tied to all pots.

On the other hand, where I play, there are LOTS of 1/2 pots that go over $70 and thus get 'taxed' at a higher rate.

Example: Compare casino A v casino B
Five $70 pots in casino A ($50 rake, $15 penalty v B) and three $150 pots ($30 rake, $15 savings v B) Is this a typical table dynamic in either room? This is the break even scenario.

My guess is there will be more (higher than 63%) $70 pots than $150 which would lead one to think that the $15 rack room is the place to go. I don't really like the 'auto' tip in casino A to begin with, but if that is the rules so be it.

I would think that everyone here can see that calculating a point of intersection between hands is different for every player and table type. You also need to consider that there are a lot of chips coming off the table and hopefully the player pool is deep enough to keep the tables full. At $6 max we see at least $100 and up to $140 coming off the tables per hour and that can only be much higher at $10 or $15 max. GL
