So in light of the recent earthquake/aftershocks in Nepal I want to do something to help. I would want to help with any disaster scenario but Nepal is especially close to me since one of my very best friends is from Kathmandu, I was recently there for his wedding and fortunately all of his family is safe even though many of their homes have suffered damage or total destruction.

So I will be streaming for 12 hours straight on Thursday, May 7th from 1pm PST to 1am PST (time negotiable if a different set of timezone is preferable). 100% of all subs and donations both via twitch and PS to me will be matched (myself/simpledude combining to match donations (5k cap)), and then that is matched again by pokerstars, so all money donated should be 4x'd.

I have previously done one of these before for Haiti w/Croix where we raised $12.5k

I hope other streamers will join in on this and do the same, I'd love to see the twitch community along with Pokerstars make a really positive change and raise a great amount to help the people of Nepal. Let's make May 7th a huge day for both streaming and donations.

Awesome idea bro, I'll be there with a donation. It's a great thing to utilize this ever growing Twitch poker community to do something good. It should be a really fun stream and everyone will have a good time watching and seeing the donations multiply via you and PS's generosity.

I read the OP so apologies if this is covered there and I missed it, I'm assuming that twitch gets a % of donations made via that platform, are they offering any concession on this. Other than that I am thinking donations via PS transfer will be the most efficient?

If they don't take a % then obv it doesn't matter.

Either way I will tune in and will be making some sort of donation.

I think you donate to him on stars xfer and the reference to twitch subs are $ he would make from twitch for people watching his stream which he will double. could be wrong though. for those considering to donate through stars this is obv a better route as it ends up getting 4xed rather than 2xed. wp and gl op

Twitch doesn't take a % of donations. They do take a % of subs.

The paypal fee is 30c +2.9% on donations. Stars transfers are free obv but if its a stars transfer and you want it too pop up on screen, you have to alert the brodcaster to add a donation manually.

Wow. When are you going to Twitch for the victims of Lock Poker who contributed to paying for that trip to Nepal?

About time someone said it.

OP I'm not saying this twitch marathon of yours is a bad idea as I believe in charity and have given money for this cause.... but seeing how it's less then a week since Lock officially closed I really don't think you're the right guy to champion this cause considering your affiliation and actions with that site.

There are other threads to bring this up in and by the sounds of it OP has answered questions on it a **** load of times already.

Thanks for the clarification Jaime. Think Stars is the way to go then, no need to get my name in shining lights just for the sake of it, though I know some people will have only that option.

However many times he's answered questions, he's still an accessory to stealing millions of dollars from poker players. Showing up here and asking for donations is not remotely appropriate. Especially when you're just supposed to trust him that they're going where he says they are.

There's no shortage of legitimate outlets to donate to help Nepal. Better to choose one of them.

Guys! you can trust him. Plus Jen says she will be matching donations as soon as the $100mil VC money comes in. She looked me in the eye and said so! Your funds are safe.

Eh, I've criticized Primo a bunch in the Lock thread, but I think derailing this thread with Lock stuff is kinda ridiculous. AFAIK Primo has a good rep beyond Lock Poker and he's doing a good thing here

Yea I mean I'm def hoping to get other streamers involved, I hope they match donations too. Feel free to donate to them instead, the point of this is to raise both money and awareness for a really &$@&ty situation over there and help a lot of people who were already living in a place with very little infrastructure to help the impoverished (of which there were many) begin to rebuild and help these people get food/shelter/medical in the mean time

edit: also to the guy who said I'm not the best champion, maybe not, but nobody else was doing anything. This is not going to be a selfish day, it's not about me, so please, get Jcarver involved, get Staples involved (he said he'll be involved whether streaming or hosting), get whoever, find your better champion and try to raise as much as we can, so please, definitely do try to get someone you'd prefer to give money to involved in helping

Ya Stars best but it's good if you let the streamer know in chat too because that makes tax record keeping easy, and also allows the opportunity to show a donation going through. So in this case, your name going up in lights with $5 from Bhoylegend would encourage others to do the same. When someone starts it, things can snowball. That's my experience.

was trolling obv. It was just amazing how long he supported the lock scam when every possible sign pointed to it being a site stealing money for years.

I commend the OP for doing this, It's an awesome gesture.
