Honestly, the chat got to him that's probably the hardest part about being a streamer i watch allot of streams generally you need a bunch of good mods to ban trolls, etc or else your chat will be a bunch of aids and demotivate you.

I only just found moldran's stream maybe about a month ago and the way the chat was constantly attacking him was just disgraceful. They got so much joy out of seeing him lose regardless of how he played. He wasn't that bad a player to be honest, not as bad as people make out. And the saddest part is you know about 95% of the people in there had no idea about poker but they just wanted to jump on the bandwagon because for some strange reason being a part of a mob that felt happy watching someone lose made them feel better. I wonder why. And his mods were probably the worst.

And to moldran, I don't know if you're gonna see this but I was watching PokerStaples stream a couple of days ago and he said it was sad that you weren't going to stream poker anymore because you had all the tools to become a winning player. This from someone who actually knows what they're talking about(Staples) unlike the ignorant fools that were your viewer base.

Moldran s stream was by far the most entertaining one out there and part of it was his uniqe way of describing people around the table or making funny nash and icm references.
Obviously it was all part of the "Game" and you should take all he said with a grain of salt.
People who think it was all real are them self delusional.

Really hope he will come back to stream poker again

The whole in love wit the nash was pretty funny allso. I don't play mtts but if I'm not totally wrong you shouldn't use it that much when playing against players that 'just clicks those buttons'. Just like the coach said to him and he was so shocked about it.

And +1 to the awful mods. Some random deleted messages like siiiiick for too many same letters when people are calling him idiot etc and laughing at him.

The only thing funnier than watching Moldran open-shove any crap Ace with 30 bbs is watching him play Dark Souls, or wtf its called, searching for the hidden key to unlock his virginity lmao.

The reason I have/had viewers is because of my gaming/Twitch history, I have 70k followers and of course many of them watch me for anything I do, including poker.

For poker, people didn't come to my stream because they genuinely enjoy it, they came to make fun about me or laugh about losing days etc. No one of the poker viewers ever donated to my stream, or subscribed to it (all the subscribers are from gaming).

Why do so many people subscribe to other streamers, like JCarver or Staples? Because people GENUINELY enjoy their streams/are being entertained by them, because they feel like they learn a lot in terms of strategy and they want to support them so they can keep streaming full-time. People become fans of them, interact with them on social media, follow them etc.

For me? People don't even follow my stream, they just watch sometimes and laugh. But most will never follow, and even more will never support the stream endeavor.

It's definitely possible to make a living with streaming poker, for example Staples mentioned he got more from Twitch this year than from poker winnings (which is a big number as a well-earning poker pro). If you check his donations listed on his page, his smallest donation is already multiple times bigger than the biggest I have ever received with Poker, and he has 300 times more monthly subscribers from Poker than me (600 vs 2).

I actually earned more from Poker winnings this month than from streaming, which is pretty sad considering I'm a recreational player and I only play 2 tables while I stream.

My poker stream went in the wrong direction since day 1, there has been much more negativity than positive reactions/support. You might not even notice it, because you are either part of it or because the messages get timed out, but chat is constantly spammed with:

* "Omfg where is [Jcarver/Staples], I can't watch this **** anymore!
* This is the worst poker stream I've ever seen, don't know how anyone would sub/donate to this at all.
* Play some 6-max $1000 hypers again to win the losses back.
* [Insert any all-in situation here]: "Worst play."

Not even gonna mention that 99 % of the PMs I received were hate/telling me to kill myself or stop streaming poker.

I would make more money playing off-line 8-tabling some low-stakes SnGs/MTTs, but I love my stream and that's why I went back to gaming (will still stream poker occasionally, maybe once every 2 months).
From a business standpoint I truly believe you are looking at this in the worst way possible. You actually have, the dream setup. You have a gimmick. You have an amazing twitch personality, and people love to watch you lose. You are an average poker player, but you rake in the views that are on par with the pros. You love to shove all-in in so many risky spots, and that creates a fun moment for the immature viewers. You have to feed the trolls. Turn on text to speech, etc. Get saltier when you lose. Learn to love the hate.

Go watch any Hearthstone stream and tell me I'm wrong. Watch Reynad for example. When he loses or misplays people go absolutely wild in his chat and the donations fly in with his text to speech on. He started off as a nobody, and now he averages 15-20k viewers every time. But he started streaming Hearthstone the day Hearthstone came out. Poker is JUST becoming a thing on Twitch. The people who become popular RIGHT NOW are the people that will be the kings 2-3 years from now. Jamiestaples, JCarver, AdrianFenix, etc, all these people will be on top of the Twitch world a few years from now. If Pokerstars ever comes back to the US, you guys will be set for life. The amount of viewership will skyrocket and the market will saturate with poker streamers trying to make it, but you guys will already be at the top.

You should seriously reconsider streaming poker, but that's just my take on it. You are actually in an amazing position. You may be making less money streaming poker than the other games you like to play, but think of it as a long-term investment that will eventually pay off. Maybe even just once in a while to keep your name relevant. But in the end its obviously down to what you want.

Not much to add, liked the poker stream but overall the arrogans against players at the table and "specialist" this and that is really of putting. When yourself is studying as hard as possible and know you arent even half decent but miles ahead of the "specialist".

If the "specialist" tone and berrating of other players was made in a more fun way it wouldnt generate as much hate I think.

Plus I think poker stream viewers are more inclined to want "free coaching" from watching and when they see someone labeling their self as a specialist while playing as a donk I can some hate being a probable outcome.

With some minor tweaks the stream could be super entertaining, which I think is the only way to make good money from streaming. Hardcore strat content will never get as many viewers as a good show. Just look at any type of media, a fresh academic article wont be a boxoffice winner exactly.

Update:
Wanted to play/stream poker again, and realized I have $140 left on my acc. Started grinding $1.50-$3.50 hyper 6-max and 9-max and reached $350+ shortly after. Then I had a downswing, going back to $200.
I wanted my BR back at $300+ so I loaded up a couple of $15 hypers which I unfortunately didn't cash in.

After I was down to $120, I opened two $60 6-max as my last chance. Few minutes later I'm busto again ($1 in BR left, and 5,000 FPPs that I'll prob invest in a Supersonic Sat).

I wish I could still stream poker again (found out that no video game really interests me atm), but I have no bankroll anymore

I don't know if you're just pulling an act or not. In case you're not, I really hope you realize you wouldn't even be able to beat micro sng's or mtt's -- you will keep losing money until you accept the fact that you're a massive fish who was on a heater.

If you don't have the patience to slowly learn and climb up the stakes, you shouldn't be playing.

+1

First stop would be to learn exactly how big variance is in the format you want to play. Big downswings can and will happen even to the best pros'

Being technically good is nothing if you arent even half decent in BRM. No capital to invest at the tables and the technical skill is worth exactly 0

Typical chasing losses in games he is inherently -EV in. Worst part is he now actually KNOWS he is -EV and still chooses to play them. The 0.02$ games are rakeless hyper MTSNGs.

Moldran, if you want to keep playing you should probably stick to (micro/small) MTTs, you're gonna go broke much slower, the fields are much softer so you might actually win (in fact I'm positive you'd be slightly +EV in them) and there is much more entertainment value per dollar, which means a beter chance of donations (or so I think).

Come up with a plan + schedule of what you want to play, then do a donation drive on twitch, this thread or post in the marketplace

Just don't think you can grind a living from poker without some serious work on your game.
