I kinda feel weird bringing this to NVG but since only 60 people max were watching at the time I guess it is my duty for the community. I'm not making any judgement here, just found it funny to hear him tell the story 6 or 7 years later.

I loaded up his twitch stream for a second and "Leatherass" (Dustin Schmidt) was in the middle of telling a story about how he had an unfair repuation for being a short stacker back in the day. His story went something like...early on when he was a coach for "Stoxpoker", Nick asked Dustin for access to Dustins account so that Nick could use it to shortstack during the mornings. So when the Leatherass9 account was shortstacking apparently it was always Nick on this account, at least in the mornings.

Dustin said he felt pressure to let Nick use it because Nick was his boss and also he felt multi-accounting wasn't as big a deal then. Dustin said the reason Nick didn't want to use his own account was because he didn't want to be looked at as a shortstacker. It would be bad for his repuation (ego) and bad for the Stoxpoker Training brand.

Such stories may be the only reason to watch his Twitch.

Seeing a bunch of tables fill up the screen making it impossible to follow any commentary (when there is any) related to the hands is not entertaining.

If you've ever watched his stream you will know that it's not entertaining. And you will realize why he gets less than 50 viewers. He is constantly turning his microphone off and often the stream is completely silent even when it's not muted. He hardly gives any hand analysis. Also, he puts a word document on the screen advertising his digital book that you can buy for transferring him $10 on ACR. Not to mention that he is constantly telling people to use his deposit referral code on ACR to make money from ACR. All he cares about is trying to make money. Yet, he has no clue how to actually grow viewership on a stream. Watching his stream is a how-to guide on what NOT to do as a streamer.

I agree. Whenever I see him on the list of streams and see more than a dozen viewers I assume they are shills or simply accidentally left his stream on.

Note to streamers: just copy what jcarver, staples, primordial and a couple of others are doing and then add to it to reflect your personality if you want some level of "success." If you are not educational or entertaining you are pretty much unwatchable.

Leatherass may possibly be the worst salesman in history. Guy has no idea how to build a viewerbase.

Seriously. I've checked out his stream on a few occasions and it was deathly boring. Jaime Staples manages to multi-table and still have an engaging and entertaining stream, and JCarver somehow manages to stream just a single table for hours at a time and still be great fun to watch.

You can't just load up your normal session and stream it and expect people to watch. You need some engagement with the viewers: tell stories, answer questions, analyse hand histories that viewers send you.

Did he comment on the Stoxtrader case at all?

Did anyone ask why he didnt bring this information up when there was a huge case about this in NVG / the poker world?

I listen to Leatherass's stream all the time. Mainly because of his stories and rants. I enjoy it a lot (him and AJfenix). I can watch JCarver for about 5 minutes before I want to choke myself. Sure, he pushes ACR and is trying to make money off it. He doesn't hide that fact at all. Being able to watch someone of his caliber grind and go through his thought process in cash games is insanely valuable in the fact that it's free, so bitching about him pushing some promo codes is laughable. I actually wish he didn't stream for the good of the game lol.

And WHY IN GODS NAME would you think telling candid poker stories is bad for his stream??? He's just ranting unfiltered off the top of his head. There's nothing more entertaining than that.

I'm old so maybe I'm out of touch (prob why Dusty's stream appeals to me), but I have no clue why JCarver gets 10k viewers watching him 1 table a donkament. He's entertaining I guess, but I personally find him annoying.

He discussed Stoxtrader case briefly. First he said that Stox was making a ton of money at the time, over a million a year. He referenced that Stox was guilty and banished from the poker community for colluding. No one seemed to ask him anything about it. I left pretty soon after tho. As far as why he didn't bring it up to the poker world I assume at the time he didn't want to admit guilt and get his name mixed up in the collusion talk.

No I made the post to bring Gossip to NVG. My views on Leatherass are pretty neutral beyond him being a little annoying. More power to him if he gets more viewers from this, it was a kind of entertaining 5 minute story to hear.

never knew dusty personally. did know nick and rob quite well. will never for the life of me understand why they did what they did. the amt of work/time/effort/study that they both (esp rob) put into the game would have net them a great life regardless (despite rob's consta-runbad w/ shot taking countering nick's rungoot). it's the equivalent of working your ass off at law school, getting to a major firm, getting "hazed" and making it to partner and then blackmailing some cop for $10k and throwing it all away.

i'm not sure how much this hurt poker overall but i think it did. it's a real shame. really good guys too other than the whole immoral/unethical cheating thing.

This is so weird! I was just doing some research on the whole Stoxtrader incident and was going to tune in to leatherass's stream to ask some questions about his involvement and why he has been so quiet about it. That was day before yesterday! Wow...must be a leak somewhere!

I really like ACR...so I'm not gonna put down the leatherass stream....I think Phil should hire Gripsed too though....just saying!

Leatherass is sickeningly self serving.

Even on his FB every post is about himself and how great he is. Then he will try to make it not look so with some obviously fake self effacing.

He would do anything for a dollar or a cheap pat on the back.
