Watching somebody not tilt isn't a way to learn not to tilt.

Tilting problems stem from personal character flaws, that mostly need to be doctored away from the poker tables. It can take over a year to be a genuine mentally healthy person, because no one can really tell you how to be that way as everyone has a different outlook.

True. So in my opinion, I'm not quite sure how someone would effectively teach "tilt control", but jcarver definitely addresses it when it gets addressed in chat, and displays it when he gets KOed in a tournament

Jason gets asked like a dozen times a day about how he's so chill and why he never tilts. He offers great advice re: tilting, it's just up to his viewers to apply it which is much easier said than done, especially for a new player.

EDIT: He also runs homegame tourneys every day with usually $100-200 added money from his own pocket. I'd be surprised if his twitch sub money even covers that outlay. I guess he's trying to build a brand and looking long term, but there's lots of value for new players in watching his stream, and lots of value for the game in general due to how many new recreational players he's bringing to the game. I don't know why anyone would hate on the guy.

I think he's a master at trolling the trolls.
His squeaky 'troll' voice gets me every time. I can't help but laugh.

The most important thing he 'teaches' is that poker should be fun.

On the head!! I think he talks PLENTY of strat and even more tilt control. I have learned a great deal from him and give him credit for helping me improve my tourney game considerably.

Really great stream, got me wanting to start playing online again.

It's really hard to do what he does and make a stream enjoyable for a long period of time. When you click on other streams a lot of the time you'll not bother with it longer than 10 minutes.

He manages to get the balance right in regards to having fun but also including some good information for people with limited or half decent knowledge of the game.

Hard to constantly talk for hours on end as well as playing and make it enjoyable for everyone.

Also I disagree I don't think he gives the vibe off of "Poker is easy and fun and you can also win tens of thousands like me if you play!"

I think he's pretty realistic with people.

I just wish he would have supported the online petition http://t.co/8ksOIYXWoY
opposing RAWA, (to protect Internet freedom. Oppose efforts in Congress to force states to shut down state-authorized poker & gaming sites) instead of bashing it in one of his twitch streams.

With his viewership/following would have helped tremendously.

I was watching him last night and he was going into detail about tilt control, and getting people to ask themselves why are they mad, how will that affect their play. Even if they are ahead it is a percentage game and on and on. He is great for not raging, he's quite a good example for the people watching him.

No it wouldn't.

"88% is not 100%"
"you should never feel that you DESERVED to win a pot"
"all we can do after a beat is react to it better than our opponents"

these little quotes have helped my perspective on the game for sure.

Great for him and DN that can pull numbers in the thousands. That said, I find it amazing that many streamers of Grand Theft Auto, for example, get 20K+ viewers to watch someone play a video game where there is neither the same level of drama (will he or won't he win the money) or education. Also, gamers donate and sub far more money than poker viewers by a huge factor so that is probably where the real money is on Twitch.

Yeah gaming is a much wider "hobby" than poker. Streamers make tens of thousands a month streaming games and get donations in 5 figures also. There is more drama in gaming, for some games. DotA, LoL, CSGO. Competitive gaming is a huge thing whereas nobody really cares if a poker millionaire is knocked out in a stars tourney.

After watching a lot of these twitch stream, i feel im just spewing chips way too much in MTTs and i could swear a lot of training videos do stuff totally opposite of what you see on these streams, yet these small ball apporaches seem to make these guys a lot of money

It's because you need that postflop edge to make the style work. You end up playing lots of pots, often out of position, and that's very difficult if you're not up to snuff postflop. (not a dig at you personally - I was finding much the same happening to me when I tried to imitate Jcarver's blind defender style in particular)

Not so fast with the GG my friends...I think a lot of twitch viewers like myself really enjoy watching really good players grinding multiple mtts with several K in buyins on the line. JCarver will always dominate because he has been doing this for years and has a ton of casual players that like the entertainment factor (I watch his stream too). But if Rupert and/or Jason (constantcolorup) are on in the afternoons I will be watching. I learn a lot more watching those guys and that's one of the main reasons I watch. I think you guys will do just fine...you might even pull some viewers off of carver's stream.

Just my take on it anyway.
