This.

I meant to post here last week after watching the trainwreck of a few sessions over the last month. Are we seeing the beginning of the end of Jason streaming? Doesn't seem to be enjoying himself, and now it might be affecting his poker. I'm sure there is variance involved, but he has played some really bad hands and then he just tries to blow it off with the lame old "I'm rich, I don't care".

I wonder how much we'll see of him between his Run It Up series and the WSOP.

Yeah, last night after he busted the FT of the 320 he was looking around the lobby for tourneys to reg and then out of nowhere just said something like "Guys I actually have a tonne of stuff to do, and a short stream is better than no stream" and peaced out. Bit odd to go from looking to reg tourneys to just ending the stream like that.

Red face Re: Jason Somerville streaming Poker on Twitch and currently over 9500 viewers!

Within two hours of tonight's stream he was watching YouTube videos of himself playing live in 2015

Afraid his product has just been obliterated by actual winning players taking to Twitch.

Numbers falling fast and no reason to expect a revival on this form.

So, Jason pretty much said today in his stream that streams were only going to be about 4 hours long now. Bummer

First i want to say jcarver is the best man when it comes to streaming or commentating.
After 2 years of streaming he just wants to step back a little.

He brought twitch pokerstreaming alive, now theres other interresting streams growing up.

So whatever he decides to do in the future - keeping streaming or retirering from streaming - i wish him all the Best.

Re: Jason Somerville streaming Poker on Twitch and currently over 9500 viewers!

i understand it's a whole lot easier to say this because his hole cards were revealed, but Mercier did not belong in that 25k from what I witnessed, dude was spewing.

On his bust hand, he opens to 2k at 500/1k/Ante i believe. B, short stack shoves 8bb and change, LLinusLove or whatever his name is flats in BB with about 60bb total, actually Mercier covered him, so i think they started this hand about 55bb effective. Linus flats BB, Mercier shoves 10s, Linus snap calls, which I anticipated(sick brag) and shows QQ. short stack triples up, Linus QQ holds versus Mercier's 10s. As the pot goes to Linus, carver asks Mercier if he "knows the guy at all?"

Mercier replies "no."

So, like dont know about his play because you never played him or was he completely unaware of who he was? Isnt that guy a pretty high stakes cash boss? I was a bit dumbfounded by that bit of chatter. Linus flat range there is so stong. Mercier has no fold equity versus the short stack who shoved so Linus knows Mercier is calling the shorties shove no matter what, therefore shrinking Linus range alot! I dont think Linus has a single flat in his range there that isnt a trap (qq-AA).

Every single time Mercier has been on carvers stream it's been a total ****show. He looks like stars made him go there and couldn't care less if he wins or loses. And carver obv being a total toyboyfan there. And yet 10k people watcing that. I do not get it.

I thought Jason handle himself reasonably well. It's no fun to lose, but he didn't take it out on anyone. I'm sure Carver would've rather had him talking than playing on his cellphone on stream but whatever. I think Carver is a first-class commentator and handled the abrupt ending really well.

I think they had well over 10K viewers for a long time, so that's a cool thing for poker.

Re: Jason Somerville streaming Poker on Twitch and currently over 9500 viewers!

Have to agree that Mercier seemed completely disinterested in anything to do with streaming or playing. Must have been pretty frustrating for Somerville to be trying to engage him in conversation about a hand to have Mercier staring down at his phone, putting on bets constantly. A few times Somerville was commentating on a hand, waiting for Mercier to notice the action was on him, running down his timebank. Would have thought that as a presumably well paid Stars Pro, he'd at least put a tiny bit of effort in.

you didn't mention positions but it can easily be a very standard shove, and Linus' range is not QQ+, actually way wider and he can have bunch of call/folds as well.

I don't see it, no way a "bunch."

cold-calling a 3 bet(allin) oop for 8.5bb, 55bb effective with the original raiser still to act, you are leaking if you have a wide flat range here. Care to get into specifics with what he flats with?

the OR, a reg, from as mentioned the HJ or CO, probably opening a standard range, somewhere between what? 15% - 23%, given the dynamic. reg also knows there is a short stack behind who can shove so may tighten him a bit more.

What's the BB to flat with here? he should first and foremost be concerned with beating the 3-bettors range because he's all-in but then you have to compound that with the fact Mercier is still the OR and yet to act. I find it hard to come up with a flatting range when added in the fact Mercier is calling no matter what(the allin, not overcalling 100%). I could start to see him flatting hands like maybe AJss A10ss but again, that gets hard to do when you are still facing an open raise and a shove, which should be kind of tight because the opener has no FE versus said AI.

interesting spot. There were about 57 people left, think in the end Mercier got 56th, 18 paid I think, maybe even 12 actually. Mercier was in 16th of 58 at one point, I remember. He may have bled a few chips so he may have been a little closer to the middle of the pack when this hand went down, but nonetheless, he and LLlinus were sitting fairly decently. So, there probably were some small ICM implications as well = tighter = better.

care to state what u think LL flat/folds to shove with? does he have a shoving range when shorty shoves? I would think ak combos of any kind mostly always.

Re: Jason Somerville streaming Poker on Twitch and currently over 9500 viewers!

i think your aproach is too tight if a standard CO-HJ opening range with 55-60 bb-s is 15-23% you think, it's more likely 25%+.

ICM is no way a factor here, even Linus busted before money from his ~100bb stack at this point.

i can't construct a range with lack of any information about players and correct stacksizes, but you can clearly guess that is not an exclusively "trap" range from a regular if he coldcalls a 8bb allin for his 10-15% stack.

found the hand, he opened HJ, D shoves for 8bb, Linus flats SB from 52bb stack. what's your play with KQ, A9+, 88 type hands in SB's shoes?

really, it was SB??? thought 100% for sure he was in the BB

if so, sb flat is way worse with a wide range

Re: Jason Somerville streaming Poker on Twitch and currently over 9500 viewers!

yes, small blind.

that's what i'd like to know how you play your vpip range with hands that has an equity advantage vs the short stack.

by minraise-ing you have around 31% potodds to call an allin, and 4bet shoving seems way too spewy/risky with a lot of holdings.

i didn't mean "wide range" as a range of random hands, but as you said QQ+ is a 1.36% range, let's say a 5% range is "way wider".

Re: Jason Somerville streaming Poker on Twitch and currently over 9500 viewers!

yes, tough spot for sure. but when flatting u have to decide how much equity you can realize. I don't discredit what you are saying entirely. I do think we should start to find room in here with hands like 88 - JJ. Some of those could be shoved profitably, I would say no doubt, because as you mentioned, original opener may be 25% or greater here, which is a fine assumption. Would be great to analyze here and maybe start to find a flatting range. Because LL flatted QQ, it certainly should give him some room to flat other combos, because he does appear to be balancing here with some goods at least some percentage of the time.

A lot to consider. Where did u find specifics of the hand? I would like to see it again in case I choose to look at it a bit more in depth, not likely

Re: Jason Somerville streaming Poker on Twitch and currently over 9500 viewers!

My biggest surprise was that mercier had no clue who either probirs (long-time top tourny player) or linus (current crusher) was. As a top player (playing a 25k anyway), how can you not have a good idea who the top players are and maybe something about their play?? He acts like it's 2004 and he can just show up and crush all the randoms.

Hope he puts more effort into the WSOP.

You sound as though you don't know how well Mercier did at the WSOP in 2016.

Lolled quite hard yesterday when carver was playing the bananagames and asked something like 'Jason care to comment on that razz hand? NO without even taking his eyes of the phone.'
