re: Jaime Staples

Look, everyone acknowledges that Jaime is on a downswing. Most also acknowledge that Jaime is not a winning player at the higher stakes he plays. Many believe that he would be better served if he spent more time working on his poker game.

His stream became popular at the beginning partly because he was the everyman kid with a dream. Starting at the low stakes and grinding his way up to the top. Viewers could enjoy the ride. And Jaime interacted with the chat moreso than anyone on Twitch.

Now that he has "plateaued" (to be kind), those things are not particularly relevant anymore. Few people are going to want to watch a losing poker player unless there is something else on the entertainment or personal side of the ledger. Many of his viewers have been there since before the downswing and have a lot "invested" in Jaime and his stream. But that "good will" will diminish over time if he continues to lose.

I think the amount of abuse he takes is absurd. But I also think Jaime is too quick to pass it off as "haters gonna hate".

My best guess is that Jaime has limited capabilities to change things. He has reached the poker heights that his innate abilities allow, and anything more will take more time and effort than Jaime seems to want to expend.

Or maybe they'll try signing WCG Rider. I wonder if he'd ever say yes to being sponsored pro for Stars.
after all the changes stars made particularly getting rid of heads up i dont think he is too fond of them so i doubt he would. besides its not like he needs the money and i believe he lives in vegas for most of the year.

Here are side-by-side viewer graphs for pokerstaples, jcarverpoker, nanonoko, tonkaaaap, raszi, and dougpolkpoker. I assembled the data from twinge.tv and hosted it on imgur.

Why all this hate for Jaime but none for Kevin? Kevin is obviously not a winning player and is sponsored by poker stars.

Kevin is not trying to pull the wool over his audience's eye(as far as poker ability is concerned ). He's more humble than stapler and is open and honest to his chat about his life / poker abilities etc (kevin actually has the higher poker skill ceiling when compared to stapler.. Kmart is still early in his poker journey is very raw and progressing in his game / where staples has been regressing over the last calendar year ). Kevin has a better attitude than stapler when streaming and has a more extroverted personality which is important when streaming .. Kevin's mods handle chat much better. The big thing that turns people off about stapler is he's trying to monetize every waking hour and force feed his viewers with things like his vlogs (loss leader dumping $7k-9k a month in hopes he see's the $$ on the back end and become the top viewed streamer) / affiliate links etc (obsession to have the most viewers and monetize at all costs ). Kevin is putting minimal $$ into his stream and its growing at a far more rapid pace than stapler

You misunderstood my comments. I have no problem with people criticizing Jaime. I just find it humorous that people who don't like him, don't like his streams or vlogs, and don't like the way he lives his life, seek out his work for the sole purpose of criticizing what he does.

If I watched something that I found objectionable, I would cease wasting my time watching it. I wouldn't do what several here do; and that is redouble their time and energy to watch his vlogs and streams, come here to post about what they don't like, then read others' comments about not liking the vlogs and streams, and then spend even more time commenting on the comments. At least until it's time to watch another objectionable vlog or stream, lol. Sounds like a colossal waste of time to me.

Really? Try and find another video about Pence or Sintaluta. Actually, I'm sure that there are some, but the point is I would not have ever heard of those places until Jaime drove through them. (I'm not even sure whether he had heard of them before.) My wife and I enjoyed vicariously traveling across the Trans-Canada Hwy with Jaime and discovering these small towns as he did. We would then Google them and see what other info we could find out about them. We even got a kick out of the fact that when we went to the Sintaluta wiki page, there was a picture of the exact farmhouse/barn with the name of the town written on it that Jaime stopped at. In fact, that's how he learned what town he was in.

Well, as a point of fact, now that he's settled in Montreal, I'm not finding the vlogs as interesting (and my wife isn't watching them at all). My problem with the vlogs is that Jamie has a habit of telling his viewers what he's going to do that day, turning off the camera, and then signing back on after the day is over and providing a recap of what transpired. I find it much more interesting when vloggers take you on the experience with them and you're there in real time. He does some of this when he goes out to dinner or otherwise exploring Montreal during evening walks, but other than that, the vlogs are him sitting on his bed performing recaps.

I'm not sure that I'm going to keep watching; as I explained to another poster, I had not heard of him before and came across this thread just as he was undertaking his move. I'm not really interested in watching poker streaming or listening to Jaime discuss his streaming on his daily vlogs (although I started to watch some of Doug Polk's just because I find the $100 to $10k challenge interesting). But I think he's a nice guy and I wish him well in all of his pursuits. I just don't understand the animosity he's garnered from some of the people here.

I can't even remember what this guy's original point was - all he talks about is himself.

I mean like if someone truly found something interesting, they'd say WHY something was interesting, so that others would understand. And really, what's interesting about a random barn, unless you've been driving across the Canada prairies because you had somewhere better to go, and this was the first sign of life for hours.

Although the fact that he now says he doesn't find Jaime's blogs interesting seems to indicate that he wouldn't have said he found something interesting when he really didn't. So who knows.

What was the original point? He doesn't understand why people who care about being winning players would not want to watch someone who's stopped caring about winning? I suppose a reason a person wouldn't care is if they weren't a winning player, and had no interest in becoming one. Not saying that's the case here, but it might be.

I think people care about Jaime because he's a good guy, and it's like watching a train-wreck in progress. His life seems extremely out of control, with the smoking and the excessive eating, the terrible money management, and the obsession with 'growing the stream'. Not sure if he might be at risk of picking up alcoholism on top of everything else if he tends to rely on substances to self-medicate.

Was posting because I wanted to help. But it does look like he's not receptive to feedback, so posting's likely making no difference in helping him get back on track. I guess it's up to him to help himself.

I do wish him well.

Are you being intentionally obtuse, or are you really having that much difficulty comprehending written words? And you shouldn't use "others" when you are just describing yourself. I'm really sorry that you can't comprehend what's transpired during the course of this conversation. I can't type any slower than I already am.

re: Jaime Staples

It's not a question of having trouble with reading comprehension, it's a question of having trouble of relating to your unusual tastes, if you did indeed find a non-descript barn in the middle of nowhere worth your while.

You don't state what was interesting about it, and no one else would have any idea what you find interesting about it, because it wouldn't be interesting to most people. I think most people watch Jaime's blogs to watch Jaime's larger journey, not his travel through the barren prairies.

That being said, I don't see why you'd lie about finding boring things interesting. Were you originally trying to claim that you don't watch his stream, so you find it strange that people would have thoughts on his stream who do?

for all the "haters" Jaime has 5 trips planned upcoming and he will be at twitchcon but in all seriousness does Jaime have anyone advising him? he seems like the type to not use any of the good advice he's probably getting from some smart people lol, his vlogs are a disaster now he's using click baiting titles and his latest vlog every comment is about the title lol, he eats like a savage & he literally seems to be doing the opposite of everything he talks about wanting to do health wise in his life
Jaime ffs listen to some of the advice some very smart people like Doug are giving you and stop caring so much what people think about you and laugh off all the "hate" rude comments, people bully you cause you react and care so much about what they think & tbh Jaime just isn't that interesting of a person and he isn't anywhere near the top 10 twitch poker streamers

It seems like Jaime only surrounds himself with "yes" man (staplespa/ his mod this alch character etc) so it's not surprising the decisions and choices he makes. The smartest dude of them all is the guy making $$$$$$ 7-9k a month for staples click bait content ..

Jaime obviously has enough money to pay the bills and go on trips. No one is saying he doesn't. But he is a losing poker player, there's no doubt about that. His results over a long period of time have shown that to be the case. I think he needs to be more honest with his viewers about his losses. Stop brushing off the comments about his downswing as "haters" and stop going to great lengths to hide all his results. Yes you are right, an advisor might do him good.
