Just to make casual feel bad. His boy can't even beat nano anymore. He needs to be 1st out there to get some audience.

There is some serious aids in this thread. I don't necessarily agree with everything Jaime says but I've been watching since basically the beginning and I hope the best for him. If he stays with streaming for the long term, I could see him "winning" in the long run. Doug Polk strikes me as someone who is just sort of in the Twitch realm for the fame and to feel important. There have been many other good streamers, bigdog and rupert, to name a few, who have given up on streaming for whatever reason. Jaime was just grinding away the entire time. Streaming consistency is the key, the deep runs and binks will eventually come.

I don't get why some people act like Twitch streamers do it for charity and expect no personal gain in return. That is not how life works and for people to dedicate 30-40 hours a week to something they have to expect a return on that time invested. So please stop pretending that Jaime streams with no expectation of personal gain and he just enjoys sitting there answering "Is this real money???" 8 hours a day

Alright, this is probably the fairest thing you will hear, jamie came up on twitch poker when there was not to many bosses/good poker players streaming, therefore with so much competition now his stream is just like the 10th best place to go to, which sucks but that's reality in business, you gotta keep your stuff better than your opponents

Belief that the person is a profitable player seems to be key to maintaining a loyal following. Even Jason Somerville's numbers might start to drop if people ever start to get the sense that he might not be that solid a player. And Doug Polk might crush the nosebleeds, but even he's going to have to start to bring it at the 1c/2c when he gets back to his bankroll challenge

The point a lot of us were trying to make was that maybe Jaime might be doing better with viewership if his graph were still going up. And to do that would probably mean sticking to lower stakes, and being more focused on poker and less on 'growing the stream.' Clearly there are people who still believe he's profitable, so that's likely who's still tuning in.

But yes, consistent streaming would likely help as well.

But at what point do you draw the line between running bad and just simply being a bad player? Jaime hasn't come close to hitting a big score for many months. He's lost 60k alone this year. This is over a sample size of many thousands of tournaments.

re: Jaime Staples

Pretty saturated market, with Doug Polk deep in a WCOOP, and Jason Somerville streaming. Even Nanonoko's only got 250 viewers right now, with Lex Veldhuis and Elky between 500-1000 each.

That being said, I'm not sure how Stars thinks. Maybe 500 viewers is more than enough of a draw for them to be happy with Jaime, since most of Team Online can only bring in a fraction of those views. And Kevin Martin usually only has around 1000 and they signed him up.

Or maybe they'll try signing WCG Rider. I wonder if he'd ever say yes to being sponsored pro for Stars.

And the biggest LOL is saying nano is a winning cash player. Yeah he was like 5 years ago.
Why do 25$/50$ games, and 50/100 games at pokerstars break while nano is ready to play if he's a losing NL cash player?

Nano is one of the best streamers there is. He plays excellent poker, and he's uniformly nice to everyone.

I would assume that Kevin Martin hosted Doug just so Doug could shout out Kevin's stream to 20k plus viewers at the time of
the host.

Obvious this. The same as when other streamers subscribe almost always when a top streamer is on a FT or has a lot of views.

He is a bad reg. Period. You can live in your fantasy world as much you like. I have never in my life seen table breaking because nano joins it. If you saw it then he must be reallyreallyreally good at poker.

He is right though. nano hasn't been a winning player for a few years. It's true that he used to be a 24 tabling winning grinder, but it's not 2009 anymore.

jaime likewise is not a winning player. People get hung up on a couple of big scores he got in the warmup/big 109 ages ago, but fail to see the bigger picture of long term results. At this point however, I'm not sure if jaime cares that he isn't a winning player. I think he cares more about growing his stream and youtube content.

that's in part of the OP and most contributors are from the other streams - it brings them joy to point out that the new streams are averaging 2-3k+, while staples has been around 1k. They know he reads this thread.

1k is a little exaggerated, try 400+ . Jmo was 100% right ! Staples should have been in the lab studying when he took all this time off and shown his fan base and his protege brother discipline . Instead he shows everyone that he doesn't make his bed in the Am / walks every 2nd day to buy 3 packs of cigs / eats late night greasy food while staying up late and drinking alcohol all the while telling his stream that he's looking to lose weight eat healthy exercise and crush wcoop . Well he has zero discipline which is a terrible quality to have .. I hope Kmart doesn't pick up his bad habits . Trying to monetize every waking hour and complaining when you lose some of your viewers is not a good look and may have turned off a few viewers .

Now who's exaggerating? Jamie is currently streaming and as of this very minute he has 2,295 viewers.

I get it if you are part of his core fan base ( a bunch of aloofs ) .. But Kmart hosted him for 1200+ viewers AND...... Sommerville / Tonka/ Polk / Nano / elky / virl/KMART and some of the other big streamers are currently NOT STREAMING !!! so stapler is currently #1..

LOL. No, in fact, I've never even watched one of his live streams before. I have, however, caught a few of his daily vlogs, which coincidentally, I discovered as a result of this thread. My wife and I enjoyed watching his cross-country trek from Alberta to Montreal and I've continued to watch the daily vlogs since then. Prior to that, I'd never even heard of him. I just find it humorous that people who don't like him, don't like his streams or vlogs, and don't like the way he lives his life, seek out his work for the sole purpose of criticizing what he does. It reminds me of the trolls in LVL who do the same thing with another poker player/YouTube vlogger. You all must lead pretty pathetic lives if this is what you do for enjoyment.

BTW, aloof is an adjective, not a noun; moreover, it really doesn't make any sense the way you attempted to use it.

Well, that makes sense and explains why his viewership was 2300+ this afternoon. But conversely, wasn't the 400 figure you threw out just a result of all the big hitters streaming at the same time? So if it isn't fair to use the 2300 figure as representative of his normal viewership, wouldn't it also be correct to say that 400 isn't a fair representation either? Therefore, perhaps the 1,000 that ReliableSource threw out there was correct after all. To reiterate, I wouldn't really know as I don't watch his poker streams.

re: Jaime Staples

I agree with most statement in this thread. The problem is at his peak, Jaime was the "top dog" on Twitch. Unfortunately, his skill level and continuous losses that only prove he is a losing player are the results of his laziness. It is quite clear he is craving for attention simply by looking at his daily Vlogs. He is wanting us to sympathize with him but he is unwilling to help himself to lose weight, get better at poker, etc.

I would be highly surprised if Pokerstars renews his sponsorship because it makes no viable sense. Jaime needs to go out in the real world and build up a resume because next thing he'll be 30 with zero employment prospects or he'll just keep living off mommy and daddy.

re: Jaime Staples

I was always a big fan of jaime, but after he signed with stars his stream became unwatchable. The reason people tuned into jaime's stream was because he was a young kid trying to become a pro. It was the best watching him grind 8 tables win some days lose some days. After he signed with stars he stopped streaming constantly and started to big time his biggest fans. Now hes on a huge downswing and gets an average of 600 viewers. Hes way to hard on himself in his vlogs and dosen't motiviate himself anymore. In this twitch climate he will never go back to being one of the "top poker streams".

Why do people always assume if someone isn't winning it's because they're lazy and not working on their game? A group of people will take the same set of complex factors (that include both math and incomplete information) and will invariably reach different conclusions if they have to digest everything and mentally perform all the calculations. Certain factors will be perceived, weighed and interpreted differently from person to person. There's usually a certain, innate ability people that rise to the top possess that allows them to make better decisions and reach better conclusions than others would under the same circumstances, and do it faster. Hard work doesn't necessarily bring you to the top, it brings you to the highest level you can reach with the cognitive tools you possess.

Sure you don't watch him stream bud....

You are criticizing people for criticizing someone and call them pathetic for it? What does that make you? Jaime put his life out there when he started streaming/producing vlogs for the public eye to see and talk about. Please tell me about your fulfilling life watching Jaime Staples vlogs with your wife for entertainment. Such excitement!
