troggzor wouldve been ran if bgh wasnt terribly OP

maybe one where handlock exists again if that happens.

bgh is much less of a problem than the fact that the game is skewed towards cancer decks and burst combos which make most huge creatures unplayable without cheating them out. sneeds and ysera are great cards that see almost no play since youll die the turn after playing it.

I don't really think BGH is OP. If you're at a competitive rank on ladder you're probably seeing like .35 BGHs per deck - how overpowered could it be while that's the case? It is really bad when it doesn't find a target, and with Boom rotating out a lot of decks that run one BGH target are going to be running zero (you really want to run either zero or more than 1 BGH target but Boom is so good that he doesn't care). Almost every big card sucks and wouldn't be run even without BGH.

It is a really high variance card though which can be frustrating. It makes such a massive difference whether or not you happen to have a BGH in your hand vs an opponent's on curve target.

well these days when ragnaros hits a minion your opponents board gets stronger

could even see cards like earth elemental come back if BGH finally gets nerfed

rhonin, stuff like rafaam and varian wrynn are playable in a bgh-nerfed meta. Nefarian, etc. More Geddons which doubles as an anti aggro while still not getting one shotted by a 3 mana card with 4 attack body

Exactly, we don't see as much BGH right now because basically every average 7 attack minion is game losing when it gets hit by BGH. It's a weird meta flux. If more big minions were being played BGH would be everywhere again.

and a druid combo nerfed meta will probably change a lot about waht kind of cards can be played without an instant effect (and druids will most likely go back to running Ramp with ancients of war, etc. of course this is all speculation without all the new cards in mind ... )

BGH makes some difference at the margin, but the biggest factor limiting the use of big threats is how often your opponent can kill you without ever dealing with the threat.

i guess weird isn't the best word choice, but its something I think average hs players don't quite understand - the value of cards depends on the meta.

whoever said control vs control is boring is insane. I had a game last night where I played reno four times and it came down to my last card being a grommash hellscream.

People were even considering a 2nd BGH. If you're around ~52-55% winrate, every 1% winrate is worth 50-100+ games off your grind to legend (and around 200 games 50->51%), and BGH gives that 1%.

On top of that, the 5 reasons people stopped playing handlock:
1) People started playing around 10 health, and either by getting the warlock to somewhere around 14-16 health then pushing them (combo druid etc.), or get them to 10-12 and killed them with spells (mage etc.)
2) Losing a molten/mountain giant to BGH is infuriating.
3) Keeping cards then playing a turn 4 mountain giant only to have it get BGH'ed was hard to come back against. Nowadays not having any minions by turn 5 is unthinkable.
4) This was rare (has happened about 5 times to me total in ranked), but losing to the opponent demonic sacrificing my hero made me want to break something.
5) Faster games means more games which means less win % needed to hit legend.

I think the handlock warlock what ur are playing is not playable more. It is way to slow for most of the decks and will be crushed by every deck i Play as a Legend player but gl with it

You're missing the point. Someone claimed that BGH wasn't played very much before boom came around, which is 100% not true.
