Well, now you know he bluffed...once....at that he likes suited cards...that hand. I'd want more datapoints than one before I went gung ho on his/her tendencies.

Anyway...I'll admit that K scared me too, and pretty sure I was more thinking we are winning more than most up to that point. I prob would've just checked/called at that point, but hard to say now. I don't hate his fold after the turn bet, tbh. (I mean, sucks knowing you had AQ, laugh, but oh well)

Check/calling aggressive players is pretty standard strategy. It gets tougher when your opponent rarely, but sometimes, bluffs. That's what I was wrestling with.

I wrote that you were either bluffing or had hero beat. With AQ, it wasn't a bluff, or bluffing was secondary in case you happened to be behind. I imagine that you thought you were likely good. I should have included analysis of any of the hands with ace and a decent kicker.

Good hand to discuss.

Villain Strange was thinking Hero held a weaker ace and would snap fold to a second bet. The $100 bet was targeting the sticky Cougar who might well call with a weaker ace.

The notion that Hero could fold two pair did not cross Villain Strange's mind.

Yes, that is a good play and good strategy. Although sometimes I like to balance my play and raise even higher and then make quad 7s. I find I make more money with quad 7s than quad aces, so that's what I'd shoot for. Usually it's best if someone else has pocket aces, that's usually when I go for the quads. But sometimes if they just have random stuff like straights or lower flushes, I try to make the flush instead.

Interesting idea, but it leads to more questions. How often do you raise preflop to make quads? How do you determine this frequency to maximize profit?

I don't do it too often or else people get suspicious. Probably about double the normal rate.

I was thinking 2.25 times the normal rate, but I think you're more wily than I am.
