I had a drunken game of "deuces, jacks, and the man with the axe" (seven card stud with 2s, Js, and K
wild) turn into bedlam one night when a royal flush and five of a kind got to the end together. Somehow we'd never fully addressed this, and the person who yelled the loudest ended up getting her way; the royal won. (It was $0.10/$0.20 fixed limit, so the pot was worth about a bag of potato chips anyway.)
We settled on five of a kind being the top hand at a later time, but yeah, it can create messes to not deal with it upfront.
