The THREAT of ONLINE poker ruining our HOME GAMES! The THREAT of ONLINE poker ruining our HOME GAMES!

Has effectively dropped to 0.000000000000000000000000000000001%

1. Harry Reid is out, and he was the only chance in rallying Congress around what was a long shot to begin with:

2. The poker action in states like Nevada and New Jersey, has been, to put it mildly, underwhelming:

3. Amaya Gaming, who paid $5B USD for Pokerstars and Full Tilt, have decided to destroy the smallest games which form the basis for the entire online poker economy with a much higher rake and currency exchange fees:

Read more: http://www.cardschat.com/news/pokers...#ixzz3IO4RtAHu

4. The international scene continues to fracture into smaller and smaller segments, as countries like France, Spain, Italy and others have their own locked sites and countries such as Russia have begun to wage what seems like a war against online gambling altogether.

2-7 Triple Draw was never Putin's best game

5. US facing sites, such as Bovada and Merge, well... Just go into Internet Poker and read some of the cashout/withdrawl/deposit threads. As if beating their bots, high rake, and tiny player pools wasnt enough, you are also gambling that you will even be able to collect your winnings at all. As a US player, you have no recourse if you dont get paid, period. You are at risk of these sites becoming insolvent or being seized at any time, which makes playing on them for anything other than a trivial amount of money a decision no rational player should ever make.

................................

In short gentleman, we the only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.

Online poker wont ever, ever go back to what is was prior to Black Friday. Let alone that "Golden Age" people talk about - 2004 era Party Poker. Its gone forever gentleman, and personally, I wont shed a tear for its loss.

Long live Live Poker. God Bless 'Merica, and God Bless our Home Games. Its one of the few true freedoms we have left gentlemen, so please enjoy it while its still here, and do what you can to preserve it.

Since my home game runs weekly only, and unbeatable casino low stakes games are 90 miles away (one way), and most underground games locally are very chancey (legitimate play and safety issues), I for one would like to have my FTP back so I could play more regularly again. I have Bovada but I feel like 1/2 the table is regs or bots who see my cards at will (yeah paranoid I know). I know not having online poker is a money issue (for somebody) and it won't be back ever.

I haven't decided if I want to cash the $600 I have sitting on Bovada or not.

I know, no rigtarding allowed, LOL, but very odd plays are made, constant donk raisers suddenly folding whenever I have AA, or KK and other paranoid nonsense. Think the anonymous players system help feed the suspicions a little. Likely I just suck LOL. I do miss the FTP, warts and all!

The limit games are beyond fish-filled.

I know people use images like that to throw digs at the US, but honestly that pic would make me move here if I didn't already live here.

Florida permits "penny-ante" poker and other games:

I love this pic, which is why I posted it - partly because it's so ridiculous and partly because there are actually people in the world who see it as a realistic representation of our country.

Okay, maybe not the T. Rex, but the rest of it. MURICA!

Put a small saddle on the T.Rex and a caveman in the saddle, and it makes total sense.

If I follow the point of the OP, and I'm not sure I do, I have to say I never saw online poker as a threat to home poker.

Rather, I see laws that make any form of poker illegal as a threat to all forms of poker.

No, we stick it to The Man by playing $40 pots with wanton disregard for the law. Fight the power!

Absolutely agree. Not sure why OP would be so happy about less opportunities to play poker here in the US.

Online poker was a big part of the poker boom and a place where many people could play for free or play as low as .01/.02 to learn the game and see how fun it is. It is this group of players that ventured out into local home games as many don't have access to casinos and also because many home games are cheaper than casinos.

I would love to see the next poker boom here in the states and I think legalized online poker would play a big part in that. I think that would carry over to our local home games with the introduction of new players or people who rediscover the game.

I find it amusing someone who runs a home game would want to behave like a casino.

Stomp out the competition!

On the other hand, maybe cdog runs a raked game, and he thinks he should act like a casino.

Yeah, I'm calling you out, cdog.
