I'm sitting in Daytona waiting for a 2/5 seat, and I remembered the conversation at HPI about the alleged 2/2 limit game here. Well, I wasn't crazy or misremembering:

Front and center is 2/2 LHE, if you couldn't tell.

Yeah we are past a year since filing. I'm guess that it will take another to get paid he hinted today about trying to countersue. That could mean we are fighting for years about this. I'm hopeful he will just die one day.... (he's in his 70s). What he wants to countersue for was a payout that was something that was changed in my contract and would open the door for me to come after twice as much as he would try and get so meh. Bring it.

If I win this case I will be in contact with the county DA to press crimes charges for unpaid wages which would be a class A misdemeanor in IL, up to a year in prison. Plus if he continues down the path he is on he could add forgery and perjery to his list. Both are felonies, perjery requires a minimum of 2 years and can be up to 5. Forgery is good for 1-3 years. God would that be some sweet bliss to visit his ass (not in that way you sickos) in prison.

I hope the old douche gets what he deserves.

Long but profitable 2/5NL session at Daytona last night. Ran like dog poo early on, and the table was so-so, but not really anyplace to go since a couple were already ahead of me on the change list. Kings cracked, kickers rivered, you know the drill.

I was in for $700 and down to about $250, then doubled up when I caught aces and they held against a pair + FD. Not much later, a couple of the better players left the table and were replaced by guys that I would love to play against all day. I had one guy sit to my left and flop MP+FD vs my bottom 2P. I tanked for a bit when he shoved over my turn bet, but ultimately felt I was ahead, called and held.

He left for five minutes, came back with more chips, and did the same exact thing on a A9xT board vs my AQ. I had to wonder given the previous hand, but I couldn't put much in his range that I was behind, and his shove felt very bluffy, so I called again. He shows JQ for the OESD and again I hold.

Not long after, an older calling station with a decent stack got a little tilted, and I took him to town with aces, 2P on an ace high board, and a couple other hands. By now it was after 6 am, and I made a bad river call against a reg I know who flopped trip nines against my TT. The table broke, and I decided I was too tired to follow tilty (who I'm sure gave the rest of his stack away at the other table). Cashed out a 200bb profit and put it straight into the Vegas fund. Oh, there'll be an opportunity for a better one. What with the two of us joined forces against him.

Vegas plans are booked.

Mrs. S and I will be staying at Bally's October 2-5. A good friend of hers is celebrating half a century without dying, and I'm tagging along for the poker and company.

I'm not sure how this trip will pan out. If they do lots of girl stuff, I'll probably get a ton of poker in. If there are group activities planned, maybe not so much. I'll be sure to do the requisite mini-TRs, but if you come looking for hookers and blow, you'll (probably) be disappointed.

At that point I knew my decision making was in the toilet, so I racked up and left.

Played a tourney last night for the first time since HPI. Tuesday nights are really busy, and I feel like I've abandoned my weekly tourney group, only playing 13 out of 31 tourneys so far this year. We had sixteen, which is a better-than-average turnout for this group.

I won a couple of pots early on, then went card dead for a long while. By 9:00 I was around 10bb and in shove-or-fold mode. I managed to hang on and keep my stack in the 8-12bb range for about 90 minutes by just picking good spots to put it in, but I wasn't able to gain much ground.

I finally managed to stack some chips and got up to about 18bb, then lost it right back when I opened KQs, TT shoves, and I make the call. I had the right odds and had him covered, but the board whiffed and I was back down to 6bb. Got lucky a couple hands later when I shoved that 6bb with KJ, got called by KQ, and caught a jack on the turn.

At this point it was pretty much slot machine poker. Everybody was shortstacked, and I just happened to get better cards than the rest. I was pushbotting most aces, middle-to-big kings, and pocket pairs. I caught KK once for a decent pot, the bubble burst, and I was the short stack three handed. I caught a couple of hands in succession and took a big chunk of both stacks including a double up with AA vs AQ, who called my preflop raise then CRAI on a low dry flop. He shoved the next hand, I called with AJ and took him out.

Heads up was two hands. On the second, I flopped bottom two on a 578r flop, villain shoves with suited overcards (A9hh I think), adds a flush draw on the turn, and misses all his outs on the river. It's my fourth win and sixth cash in 13 tourneys with this group, so I'm having a decent year.

Maybe if I was a better player I wouldn't feel this way, but these kind of tourneys just drive me poker crazy. I have luckboxed a few back in the day, but finally I just got so frustrated that I settled into cash game poker only live ( not that I am any big deal with that either) but I am much more comfortable. I still do an occasional SNG for low stakes on Bovada for fun. My screen name is number six (6).

Meh, tournaments are tournaments. What I don't like is the type of crowd attracted by tournaments. I find the type of player attracted to them to be wholly more nitty, annoying, and unpleasant than someone looking for a cash game.

Did you look at the following picture? Those Florida codgers love the half-hour HHJs at Daytona (typically $500-750 on a Friday night), and they'll push chips around in a 2/2 game all night trying to catch a SF or quads. As soon as the last big HHJ is gone, so are they.

I honestly believe that only the house wins in those games.

I think that's part of the reason I don't play with this group as much anymore. I prefer cash games to tourneys - especially tourneys with turbo structures like most weeknight home games. The buy in is $10 and the games average 9-12 players, so I'm definitely not in it for the money. (I will admit to covering some post-game grocery shopping with the proceeds from last night's win, though. )

I really enjoy playing with this group; they're a good bunch of guys. And it is a cheap way to keep my tourney game from getting too stale. Those are the main reasons I continue to play once in a while.

Yes, a good crew of long time poker pals can really make up a lot for the downside of these turbo shovefests. Around here, they are not as easy to find as they used to be, nor are bar games or charity events. I used to be a regular at these things till about 5 or 6 years ago. Times have changed. I don't miss the games , but they were fertile recruiting grounds for home games like ours!

Finally moved into the new house and getting setup. Hope to have my home game going again with my regulars soon.

Not really sure what this adds to the thread except to increase my posts by 1 and try to get away from enthusiast status.

Ran pretty hot in Daytona last night, and ended up booking another 200bb win in spite of a couple missteps and one cooler (QQ vs 55 on a QJJ5x board). The table was super loose, and I consistently got paid with TPTK, 2P and over pairs.

I hit a couple more sets besides the loss above, one straight and one flush (vs a bigger one, oops). I felt pretty comfortable and on my game last night, felt like I played most of my marginal hands well, and I made a couple of tough but correct calls.

My table was also the HHJ magnet last night. We had quads three times and a straight flush. Three of the four won a half hour $650 jackpot. I was not one of them, though I did have the pleasure of losing a very small pot to the SF.

I'm super psyched for Vegas next weekend.

Looks like fun. I don't know much about MMA, but for sports I do follow, it's always more fun to watch them live than on TV.

Glad you had a good time.
