I like the idea of "all hands that reach showdown are shown". I am going to suggest this to the host at the next game. The players who hate to show their hands unnecessarily are going to hate this rule but I can see where it will speed up the game and prevent further discussions on the issue.

I can tell you that if I had to show every hand at showdown, I might pick better starting hands.
