Game one was a smashing success, with something like 50 rebuys. BobG and BigK have taken early leads in the season scoring. Here's a schedule for the rest of the short winter:

This coming Monday is 7-card-stud. It's always weird to play stud online where you can't hear everybody complaining about everything.

Just in case anyone had any doubts, last night confirmed I suck at stud.

PLO tonight. In keeping with the recommendations of recent threads, the stakes will be kept to a level I think you all can afford. Remember, your set might not be that strong, kids.

yeah, partly by design and partly by post-UGIEA reality, there isn't exactly a lot at stake, I'll give you that. It's purely for fun, and a chance to play against some of the people we chat with a lot. I consider HPF a group of poker buddies, so it seems natural that we should actually play a little poker with each other.

We /could/ amp things up somehow -- league prizes, cash settled offline, more strat discussion, ???... if some volunteer wanted to provide the organization and deal with the inevitable questioning of such a volunteer's intelligence and sanity.

My philosophy has been that it costs ~nothing to set the games up each week, and if people want to play, more power to them. It does provide an opportunity to play some games that you might otherwise not find, at least not at play-money stakes with opponents who are really trying.

One other note: there were a couple dead-stacks again this week. I know plans change and I've been a dead stack myself a couple times, but if you KNOW you can't play, my personal preference would be that you not sign up. I think other people feel the same about it, and probably a few people would disagree.

But for example, on both tables tonight the dead stacks were still there at the bubble, and it tightened the game up A LOT while the small and medium stacks waited for the dead stacks to blind out. In a purely-for-fun league, I think that's a bit of a drag.

Fools game Monday. NLHE, 1 playchip buyin and unlimited rebuys for first 30 minutes. 2k starting stack + 2k for 1 chip any time you're at or below 2k. Will not count towards season points -- just pure, undiluted fun.

Didace won tonight's rebuy game, so he is now in charge of choosing the next game. This is a new rule for the spring season.
