"Home" game on Pokerstars Monday night: You're invited! "Home" game on Pokerstars Monday night: You're invited!

07-23-2012 , 11:50 AM

The home poker forum hosts a weekly game online, every Monday night at 6:30pm Pacific, 9:30pm Eastern time, (2:30am tuesday GMT). Everyone is invited to join us to play some hands with your HPF comrades and chat online.

There is a mix of games, so you also get a low-investment chance to play & learn something besides holdem. Unlike most play-money games on stars, there will be some real competition in these, and strat talk is not discouraged.

Cost is very modest: 1.1 play chip per tournament. Pokerstars keeps 0.1 playchip to help cover their expenses, which I think is fair.

Any season points tracking is purely informal. Feel free to play as little or as much as you'd like. Two simultaneous tournaments each week, play one or both.

Eneely is the league owner. Any 2+2 forum user is welcome to play in these games. This is for play chips and pride only, but it is fun if you like poker for poker's sake. To join, follow these steps:
  1. If you don't already have it, download the free PokerStars software from http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/download/
  2. Open the main poker lobby, then click on the Home Games tab
  3. Click the 'Join a Poker Club' button
  4. Enter my Club ID number: 35264
  5. Enter my Invitation Code: homepoker
  6. Enter your name: <your 2+2 screen name>

Also, you must introduce yourself here in this thread or one of the weekly threads. Let us know you want to join, and give us your Pokerstars screenname. If you don't want to publish that, say so and send me a PM. If you can't PM yet, let me know that and I will contact you.

That's it! Once he approves your membership request, you'll be ready to start playing. He tries to approve quickly, but it could take a day or two.

Americans might prefer to download the full Pokerstars client, rather than the limited .net client. It's available at
Windows:http://77.87.180.178/PokerStarsInstall.exe
Mac:http://77.87.180.182/PokerStarsInstall.pkg.zip

Thank you, gedanken!

It was great playing tonight. Except for, you know, exiting first on both tables.

Oh, well, somebody has to do it. hope you thought the price was right! If you have any hands to discuss, post away! I always thought that would be a good use of these games, but it's hard for me to remember interesting hands later -- I'm lucky to keep up with the action at all.

quick word of advice, though:
Spoiler:
suck out on the river more. Watch mariettabull, he's an expert at this.

Things ran a bit long because triplestud blinds only advance every 3rd round. I had lowered the starting stacks, so it wasn't too bad. Lots of play before stacks got critical.

Users of the .com site can save hand histories to their hard drive even for play money games.

Had a great time last night and enjoyed the relaxed pace.

I don't know, that rake is pretty steep.

I had a hard enough time remembering which game we were playing, let alone logging notable hands! I liked that strat talk was/is encouraged though. Helpful to get some real-time insights.

What's the turnout on these things? Would like to possibly get involved once or twice if I'm free on Monday nights
07-31-2012 , 02:40 PM
turnout varies between ~20 and 2.

No reason not to join, it's 100% free and can't hurt you. PM eneely early to get the invite codes and such. Trying to join monday afternoon doesn't usually work.

At a hotel with the fam, signed up anyway in the hopes of getting maybe 30 minutes in if lucky. But first had to put the baby to sleep and make sure the other one didn't slip and fall in the tub... then rolled to a 1st and 3rd... just how I drew it up, heh.

ggs, all.

tl;dr= Of course, the cat curse bites me.. ouch

I hope some of those histories show you were closer to me, than I actually perceived in the heat of battle... or I'm really going to be pissed.

Well, something lame is going on (probably on my end) and the hands aren't converting. Suffice to say that I always got my money in good...

...except for the times when I didn't.

I'll work on getting the worst one up though, LL (you know the one). The world deserves to know.

the hh converters I've found barf on playchip games. It's absurd. The differences are tiny. People really suck at writing text parsers, imo.

If you want, you can edit a few minor things in the header to get it to work, but that's somewhat of a pita. If I didn't suck at writing text parsers, I'd make a script that fixed them automatically.
